and in open areas sometime the framerate go below 50.
It's so frustrating. I was actually eyeballing a 1070 a month or two ago, but when I checked the prices I nearly died. Also, this game USUALLY runs between 70 and 144 fps MOST of the time. It's just maddening that it won't keep up at the start....which is where smooth aiming is needed most. A dip to 50 won' t kill me in a long range battle. Running around hacienda with a 1911 is when I really need headshots and I just can't do it at that framerate
Yeah, it's sad man. I LOVE this game. The firefights play out naturally, the shooting is top notch(leaning corners, bullet drop and prone are a must in PC shooters), I haven't seen a cheater in FPP, and one life means every death is a real learning experience.
I've always had my system optimized(prefer max performance, unlocked all cores, etc), I've tried every tweak, but I'm just realizing I don't haev the raw power to keep 60+ in a crowded drop.
A lot of people would say upgrade that potato. My hardware is not brand new, but I'm not in potato zone yet, and I work full time. I WOULD upgrade if the costs weren't out the window right now.
Don't worry man, I'm just sad...not crazy
what settings do you play on ? that can make a bg difference too. have you tried everything on very low just to see if it helps with the frame drops ?
I know your PC isn't a potato yet, but the CPU is klinda old I do wonder if that is having an impact, even though in benchmarks the difference between yours and mine ( 6600k ) isn't that much ?
my system WAS
i5 6600k
8GB 3200RAM
Asus gtx 970 dcu ii ( their oveclocked one )
256GB ssd
1440p monitor
I found I would retain decent fps if I dropped to 1080p and most stuff on low except maybe textures ... I cant remember ... upgrading the RAM to 16GB made a noticeable difference for me ( but this was a while ago when the game was in a different state I guess ? but I still think this is the cheapest and best first option for you )
it should be doable with your system to have a pretty decent experience fps wise.
-EDIT-
oh yeah I did overclock my CPU eventually too and that made a difference as the guy below me mentions ..
And what i noticed, when i oc my i5-3570k over 4ghz pubg runs much smoother.
I have an i7, and a GTX970 and an SSD and 20GB of RAM, game drops frames like crazy still.
Its not possible to run this game properly haha.
All very low except AA high and textures at medium. Even at low textures I can't keep 60+ in the first few seconds. Drops less, but I want 60+ FPS at the beggining. When your opponent has a scar and you have a pistol killing them is possible....but it's more trouble than it's worth at 45 fps. The juddering in those first few seconds has gotten me killed a few times. Honestly this game looks shaky sometimes EVEN WHEN it says 80 fps.
Thanks for all these responses guys. I gave my specs and asked the questions. It's nice to get actual responses and not be told "ditch that potato". I've been eyeing an upgrade, but I'm not doing it for one game. The longer I wait the better off I'll be
I understand that too. People don't always understand that SOLID FPS is more important than high FPS most times. I've got a dirty confession. I played Arkham Knight at max settings and 30 fps. A perfectly frame paced 30 fps was easier to handle than jumping from 50 to 60 constantly
