FPS drop & freeze when enemy 1st becomes visible
This seems to be way more frequent now:

Massive FPS drop and freezing when an enemy first becomes visible at close range like when they strafe around a wall or corner. By the time it goes away, I'm dead.

This should NOT be happening on an optimized 8700k + 1080 Ti + 32GB RAM + 960 EVO 1TB. None of my other games have this kind of problem. This is literally the only game that has issues.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Maybe it has something to do with textures/skins and of course, lousy game code.

You gain lots more help within the Official Forums since the PUBG Mods and Devs won't listen here, check it out:

After a lengthy discussion we have decided that we will no-longer be actively attending to the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Steam Community forums.

There are multiple reasons for this but the decision ultimately comes down to the fact that we are unable to work efficiently due to the moderation systems, or lack thereof, put in place by Steam.

As our game has grown in popularity we have found that the amount of spam, rage posts, and other content that needs to be moderated, has increased to the point where we are unable to do so without full moderation tools found on every other forum platform.

We encourage you all to come to our Official Forums where all our Steam Moderators and Community Team will now be focusing their attention.

PS: Please still try to be nice to each other here :)

Good point.

I've a feeling it'll be a waste of time but I'll do it anyway...

Nope. working fine here.

I did do some tweaks/suggestions from the guides online. These may or may not help, mileage will vary.

I don't run any software so this helps a lot when gaming. Literally nothing on startup.

My pc which is a older i7 377K is OC'ed to 4.1 which is helping a lot. This game loves 4ghz or higher.

Yeah, my PC is pretty well optimized too. Minimal threads and services running.

I don't have any problems gettin the game to run well. This issue specifically occurs as described for a duration of roughly 2-3 seconds at literally the most critical time when you 1st see the enemy and engage the fight.... and die.

Something isn't workin right if your new pc is havin issues but my old pos isn't.

I'd say software issue more than likely.

What do you have on startup or in the background??? All of this can be seen in the task maanger.

Trust me, I've already optimized my PC and am only running very basic things. Again this isn't a random stuttering or performance issue. This is clearly somehow triggered likely by game code.

For example, this is exactly the same thing that sometimes happens when a grenade exlodes in a house and all the objects such as windows break at the same time - FPS drop, freezing, sound stuttering. This is extremely unlikely to be an issue with my already optimized, overkill PC.

Not your pc per say but the software installed. Is what i was talking about. Tons of software can conflict with this game because of all the security updates they do. BO3 had the same thing.

Yea the game has issues. The grenade issues have been a known issue n are or have been looked into it. Been awhile since ive seen it.

I havent nor do i get fps drops or freezing. You get these constantly or just during specific events?

I think it is quite random, but I described it earlier, on few specific events with new sound/event/behaviour in game.

When I mean optimized my PC, I mean in totality, not just HW...

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
This isn't happening at every encounter but as I mentioned in the original post, it only occurs when an enemy first appears at close range (< 10m?). I'll post if it continues to happen after updating to Geforce drivers to 391.01.

My hunch is it has something to do with how the devs coded texture or other object loading. Not sure what else would obviously cause the issue when enemies first show up at close range.

What's your ingame settings? You using Ultra?
Have you tried windowed mode?
Try lowering some settings if you on Ultra.

Again, my PC (HW & SW) are fine. The main factors at this point are Geforce drivers, overlay, and PUBG .

I appreciate the help but I'm no longer going to reply to this thread.

I posted the issue on PUBG gameplay bug forum:
bug report[forums.playbattlegrounds.com]
There are other people having the same issue and some have even linked videos.

Just cause others have the same/similar issue doesn't make it the game.

Why are you still talking about your HW and SW, I asked about the ingame settings.
If you can't answer simple questions cause you think you know, well apparently you don't cause you have issues and tons of others don't.

If it was driver related, a ton of people would have this issue, it's just not the case. While some may have a issue, it's in the minority not the majority. Most issues can easily be remedied by reinstalling drivers or simply don't use overlays or GFE.
Btw, I asked about software and you said your pc was fine now you mentioned overlays which is clearly software and overlays are known to cause issues with games.

There are poeple who know and people who think they know.

Got everything about low, except of antialiasing, I tried to change many video settings, but it has nearly without affect the performance. I think it is bad coded in game, hope they find the way how to fix it early.
