Freeze on loading screen (Old map only)

About 50-80% of the matches I get on the old map freezes. It freezes during the loading screen into the map. I'm unable to close PUBG, I'm unable to tab out of the game. I can't do ANYTHING.

The computer doesn't freeze, as I can type this message right now without problem. Everything else works, I'm just really stuck on the loading screen.

Right now I'm forced to restart the computer simply because I can't exit the game.


What causes this?

LIkely a software conflict.

Dont have programs on startup or running in the background while gaming.
Check your anti virus, they cause a lot of problems with games. May need to disable it or uninstall it. AVs can add extra software that isnt needed, you should do research on your av to see if others have problems with it.

Don't use Ultra settings. Medium and is high enough for most people.
Disable replays.
Disable High DPI Scaling
Disbale Fullscreen Optimizations in tslgame and tslgame_be.

If using shadowplay, disbale it.
If using resahde, disable fps counter or uninstall program.

You can try repairing c++ 2017. Some have messed with 2015. Some have even removed all but 2015 to fix their issue. Best advice is to make sure your windows is all up to date. Reinstall or repair as needed.

Who are you talking to? There is no dev support here. So EVERYONE who keeps saying that, your talking to no one.

I mean.. It has been working fine since PUBG came out.

This started happening after the patch with the new spawns came out. And it's only about 80% of the matches.

It's because the game updates its security all the time with these patches and that is what can cause the software conflcits.
Some of the other stuff i mentioned are just tweaks that have helped some people. Try them or don't, up to you.

If you happen to be running Malwarebytes, I would give disabling some of it's active detection permission a try and see if that will solve your problem.

I run malwarebytes but its the free version. No issues. Maybe the paid version has issues with games.

I'm having the same problem, and I agree this started after the patch that changed the spawn points! Bluehole needs to patch their patch!

One of my friends got that issue too. He found out , if you turn off win 10 windows defender completely, it works for him. But Today we got a 1.6Gb Patch maybe this will work too, pls answer here if that "small" Patch from Today, is fixing that Problem. Thx. I'm still using Win 7, no Problems so far with Loading Maps, only some mid game crashes.

Ive never had a issue with Defender and before that MSE. In 8 years using microsofts av, never had it cause a issue in gaming. It's the only software that i have never needed to configure as ive never seen it cause any trouble with games.

Same as OP here. I've been playing since beta and only just the last month or so has my game been freezing on load screen - and it's only on the old map. Tonight I froze every time, even after repeated re-entries. Loads new map 100% of the time.

I had this while using an old fps trick that doesn't work anymore.

Which was to run the game in compatibility mode to check the dpi setting, when I unchecked that and returned it to normal the freezing stopped.

Probably not the issue you are experiencing, but just putting it out there if it is.

Thanks Av for the tips, surely that'll help someone. I actually fixed my freeze issue by uninstalling reshade. I read elsewhere last night that there's a chance that was the problem... and it was. After pulling my hair out for several weeks!

I do not use reshade and the problem is still there.. i tried so much but nothing helps..

I have the same issue. I did a Google search and a search on these forums and apparently a LOT of people are experiencing the same problem.

To reiterate what has already been described many times before: my game freezes on the loading screen (loading into a match). The main menu loads perfectly fine. The most frustrating thing of all is that I can't ctrl+alt+delete or get the game to close without having to restart my computer.

The game is quite simply unplayable in its current state. Out of curiosity, what operating system, antivirus, and firewall do those of you who experience the same issue use?
