Playing in 1080p on a 1440p, 144 Hz, 27 inch monitor to boost performance
I'm wondering if this is possible without messing up the graphics too much.

I have a Dell S2716DG 27 inch, 144Hz Monitor set to 1440p, paired with a GTX1080 gfx card and a 6700k processor and 16 GB DDR4 RAM.

If i play on slightly higher settings then low i get around 60FPS in some places on the map and i think playing in 1440p is causing this because it's a little too heavy.

I was wondering if i can just play the game in 1080p without messing up how the game scales to my monitor, to boost performance and be able to maintain high FPS on high settings.

Let me know, thnx in advance

its installed on a gaming pc, why wouldnt i continue to use it.... not like i surf the web or download anything on this pc, heck gaming pcs that literally dont even go on the web can easily run without anti virus.

either way im hoping for either more game support on linux or steamos, or a new operating system shows up around that time, but its not like i would be losing or missing anything by continuing to run win 7 after they stop their security updates.
Except the speed of newer versions...

win 10 is garbage deal with it....

Changing resolutions on any monitors from native to lower will make it look terrible

1080p on a 2k monitor will look worse than regular 1080p

I looked at your specs, they're lackluster.

It does look worse than before but not too bad at all honestly, i will play a bit with the settings probably to try to get it better. There is 1 thing that kind of bothers me and that is when i'm looking at fences (the bugged ones you can't shoot through properly atm) or somethings similar from a distance, it looks like its textures are moving. I'm hoping i can fix that by messing with the settings a bit.

Besides that, it's not all that bad and worth it for the more stable 60+ frames at all times imo.
