Network Lag Detected Fix
I have been getting the dreaded "NETWORK LAG DETECTED" message for the past few days and it's been awful.

I'm playing on Wi-Fi because my router is too far away for a wired connection, but after setting up a DMZ with my PC's IP on my NetGear router's settings, that problem has finally gone away. So, try that. Look up how to set up a DMZ for your router with your PC's IP and see if that helps. It might help even if you're wired or on Wi-Fi.

Hope that helps.

I have a NetGear R6700 "Nighthawk" router.

That's the thing, when you post a solution like this, you're opening the floodgates for everyone to just go and screw up their network security. Most people who will read your post

  1. Don't even know there is a risk because you're not telling them there is.
  2. Are too lazy and only want to play their games, not worry about security.
wtf are you smoking. I have said several times there is a risk. can you not read. everything with the net is a risk.
people are too stupid to read and are way to paranoid. security is a joke to begin. I suggest you learn more about routers and what some of these features DONT really do. the cause more issues than you obviously know.

So are you also advising that people just not get an antivirus and not do regular PC maintenance since "even just using the net is a risk"?

Let me guess, you also don't wear your seatbelt because driving is already a risk in itself?

AV is provided and has been for years on ALL OSes.

NO ONE is talking about regular maintence of a pc, we are talking about ROUTER SETTINGS.

LEARN TO READ.

The point is that setting up DMZ is akin to permanently disabling your antivirus. Sure, not everyone gets viruses, but when you do, you would have wished you had it.

Just like DMZ. Not everyone is getting portscanned (although, I had somebody trying to portscan me the other month, still get it every other week. More common than you think kiddo) but when they do, damn would they regret not trying everything they could to keep a secure network.

Also, maybe you should actually pull up some sources instead of saying "Well I said it so it is true!" At least I was able to do an internet search and pull up results that validate the claims I am making.

If you're not saving your social security number in your doc's, or have secret business information or some ♥♥♥♥, go for it. You'll be fine,

And unless you ever type passwords in on anything ever, don't worry about it! /s

DMZ on routers basically port forwards EVERY PORT to your PC. If you have a garbage firewall (which windows firewall isn't the best, but it works okay if you also use your router firewall in tandem) then who knows what will happen.

If you have to enable DMZ, then you're using the wrong solution.

dmz is akin to disabling your AV, wtf are you even talking about? Dude you really need to look into routers.
I dont have portscan even enabled, mine has been disabled, still not issue.

Enabling DMZ is a choice, why the f*ck do you even think it's a setting in the first place. All manufacturers would be sued if it were even close to a issue as you make it out to be. It isn't.

Router firewalls have been known to cause a lot of problems. Ive never had a single issue with windows 10s firewall. 3 yrs running just fine.

DMZ bypasses all firewalls no matter what they are, that's the point of DMZ.
Ive never once had a issue but then again I know what im doing. Maybe you and others have no clue. I can simply read so I have no issue turning all those garbage settings off.

In Netgear routers all you have to do is open NAT Filtering and that resolves most issues. Which I have said since the very beginning. For other routers just disable the spi firewall. There are some other settings like sip alg and port scanning which can also be disabled. Again, they have been known to also cause issue with online gaming. If anyone does enough research you can find all this info out.

Wow, now I know what it feels like to argue against a stupid person. You should really travel around and inspire people to not be like you. It could really change some lives.

So you fight against yourself, that must suck.
