So are you also advising that people just not get an antivirus and not do regular PC maintenance since "even just using the net is a risk"?
Let me guess, you also don't wear your seatbelt because driving is already a risk in itself?
NO ONE is talking about regular maintence of a pc, we are talking about ROUTER SETTINGS.
LEARN TO READ.
The point is that setting up DMZ is akin to permanently disabling your antivirus. Sure, not everyone gets viruses, but when you do, you would have wished you had it.
Just like DMZ. Not everyone is getting portscanned (although, I had somebody trying to portscan me the other month, still get it every other week. More common than you think kiddo) but when they do, damn would they regret not trying everything they could to keep a secure network.
Also, maybe you should actually pull up some sources instead of saying "Well I said it so it is true!" At least I was able to do an internet search and pull up results that validate the claims I am making.
And unless you ever type passwords in on anything ever, don't worry about it! /s
DMZ on routers basically port forwards EVERY PORT to your PC. If you have a garbage firewall (which windows firewall isn't the best, but it works okay if you also use your router firewall in tandem) then who knows what will happen.
If you have to enable DMZ, then you're using the wrong solution.
I dont have portscan even enabled, mine has been disabled, still not issue.
Router firewalls have been known to cause a lot of problems. Ive never had a single issue with windows 10s firewall. 3 yrs running just fine.
DMZ bypasses all firewalls no matter what they are, that's the point of DMZ.
Ive never once had a issue but then again I know what im doing. Maybe you and others have no clue. I can simply read so I have no issue turning all those garbage settings off.
In Netgear routers all you have to do is open NAT Filtering and that resolves most issues. Which I have said since the very beginning. For other routers just disable the spi firewall. There are some other settings like sip alg and port scanning which can also be disabled. Again, they have been known to also cause issue with online gaming. If anyone does enough research you can find all this info out.
Wow, now I know what it feels like to argue against a stupid person. You should really travel around and inspire people to not be like you. It could really change some lives.
