Ump provides more attachment options, better versatility on short/medium ranges. Compensator is equippable whereas Tommy Gun you cant use a compensator only a silencer.

I find the TG sprays more than I like and you can only attach a silencer, where a compensator is about 20% horizon and vertical recoil I believe?

Ump is also one handed, so shooting from a motorcycle is a plus.

it feels like y ou move faster with ump over tommy

Tommy is high damage close range, like a chocked shotty. UMP is good all around, but cant keep up in close range damage. I prefer UMP

Thompson within 15-20m since the recoil is insane but in a fight it will out do any 9mm with its damage.

Ump handles better all round I would only use the thompson over the ump if I have a smg suppressor on hand.

Tommy is better if you are less than 10m away or trying to blow up a vehicle, UMP is better in all other cases.

People like Vector & UMP more because you can attach sights on those weps... For me I rather have Tommy gun I love that 50 round drum mag.

Actually, you do run faster with a pistol over anything else. Then you run faster with an SMG over a rifle.

If the Tommy gun really is two handed then it must be considered in game as a rifle. So you would indeed run faster with a UMP.

Tommy gun is an SMG so it has the same movement speed as an UMP, it doesn't go by how many hands hold it but by weapon type (AR vrs SMG usually have larger weight differences).

So no, you don't run faster with an ump over tommy gun/vice versa.

Why do you need to link to a reddit discussion? Everybody and their mother know you run faster with an SMG versus a rifle. That was free info given at the start of the EA period.

I kind of think it is stupid to consider the Tommy gun as an SMG but whatever. I'm not a dev.

The tommy gun is the nickname of the Thompson submachine gun. So I think it is kind of stupid to classify it as anything else.
