Hardware for 120 fps 1080p
I was wondering what hardware I would need for 120 fps PUBG on 1080p.
As for settings I will be using mainly low with high/ultra in textures, antialiasing and draw distance.

As for cpu I am interested in an ryzen 5 1600 OC to maybe 3.8-4Ghz and 16GB ddr4 ram.
As for my gpu I am not sure if I need a gtx 1060, 1070 or 1080.

I actually also don't know if the ryzen 5 will be good for PUBG

i find it funny you think that amd beats any intel in gaming, when clear benchmarks have shown intel beat amd in gaming for starters, intel also beat amd in workstation, the only thing amd has on intel is pricing, but that pricing shows low quality.

i have used amd in the past, i have a laptop atm with amd in it, i also have used intel in the past and have a beastly gaming desktop with intel.

in general your paying less with amd and getting less peformance, ever hear the saying, you get what you pay? buy cheap get cheap products, pay more get better quality.

"I have used amd in the past" & "I have a laptop atm with amd in it" have aboslutely nothing to do with ryzen 5 / 7 cpus.

Moreover, not sure what benchmarks you're looking at, but a ryzen 5 1600x @ 4.0GHz with 3200MHz DDR4 16GB RAM beats out the i7 7700k in most games, or at the very least matches it.

Maybe try to look at the RAM speed used for benchmarks, a lot of the benchmarks out there use 2133Mhz RAM, which the intel wins at.

hmm .. this bench using a STOCK 7700k with 3000Mhz RAM .. the 7700k EASILY goes to 5Ghz also keep that in mind..

Am i an intel "fanboy"? No. do i prefer it for GAMING, YES. ive got plenty of years experience as well..

one of many benchmarks

intel beats amd in benchmarks, also not sure why you keep bringing up ram speed, ram speed hardly effects anything, might see a tiny tiny boost in benchmarks but nothing obvious in usage during gaming or anything.

amd processors are garbage for this game
No they aren't
Exactly.
They are garbage in general.

Perhaps I'll just wait for Nvidia Volta and some more optimizations for the game. And I also wasn't planning on playing the game on ultra. I use more competetive setting.
For now I'll just play a little with my 40 fps lock on my 120hz monitor :p.

you can wait but the 1080 and 1080ti are very good on this game, atleast paired with a good cpu and ram, also assuming game installed on ssd and a good internet with low ping.
I don't get it yet why people try to AMD vs. Intel battles? AMD Ryzen also i7 has their own life permissions. AMD has the better prize/performance balance and Intel is just more expensive.

Who care about differences of ~20 fps in 100+ frame rates? If someone like me uses 60 Hz monitor, every single FPS over 60 FPS is just too much and overlapping the pictures. That's why i use cap limit of 60 fps ;) And i can play smooth.

@threadstarter:
With Ryzen 5, 16 GB RAM and any 1060/1070/1080 you'll have very solid built power machine. You should be able to play many games around of 100 FPS easily. PUBG hasn't been optimized yet that i won't focus on any too expensive hardware to reach any 120 fps. Power and performance is not everything. Keep your eyes on the prizes also. And don't forget that the GPU's are overprized currently because of the BitCoin farming ;)

True, bit if I can't get a locked 120 fps the upgrade doesn't really seem worth it. 1000 Eu to go from 40 to 60 fps.
I might however try something like this. https://nl.aliexpress.com/store/product/EXP-GDC-PCI-E-V9-5-Laptop-External-Independent-Graphics-Card-Dock-Laptop-Docking-Station-M/1048722_32801206514.html.
That might make the 40 to 60 fps worth it as I won't have to buy a gtx 1080 or better nor a whole gaming pc. I think a 1060 and a psu will do.

It's weirdly optimized as well.

I have a GTX 960 and can't run this game higher than 25 FPS at the lowest settings. But a buddy of mine has a GTX 780 and gets an easy 60 FPS on highest settings.
Renoullis 2 Thg09, 2017 @ 4:21pm
only person ive seen with 120 average fps at ultra was summit1g but he has an i9 cpu with 2 gtx 1080 ti and also 64gbs of ram running on a beast SSD so im not sure its achievable tbh xD

If you wanna play this game on all ultra 1080p it's not possible in this game to achieve 120fps
Even with best PC

I achieve 140FPS on ULTRA

I find it really funny how people are bashing AMD cpus here when they don't even know the first thing about computer hardware.

Reality is, AMD ryzen 5 1600x paired with 3200MHz ram is better than the i7 7700k in gaming and everything else for that matter. (don't get me started with ryzen 7's, they win by a long shot vs i7's)

The Ryzen CPUs scale with RAM speed because of the way the chips are made, the 8 cores are effectively 2x 4 cores. More ram speed allows faster communication between the split. Check benchmarks, you will see Ryzen CPUs getting up to 20% performance increase (in terms of frame rate) just by going from 2133 Mhz to 3000+

There are even PUBG benchmarks using this RAM speed scaling, and you will see that an r5 1600x beats out an i7 7700k on PUBG when using 3000MHz RAM, minimum , average, and max frame rates. (I'm saying PUBG to keep it in context to OP's question, but it beats the i7 on most other games to, excluding the few such as GTAV that seems to run better on intel CPU's as it's a HEAVILY single threaded game)

Let's not forget, ryzen 5 1600x is only £200, plus a mere £130 for an x370 motherboard to allow for smooth and stable overclocking.

Whereas intel.. i7 7700k is £300, then add another £200+ for a decent motherboard.

Why pay more for less? Makes no sense.

Given, Ryzen launch was shakey due to bios issues etc. but now, it's just so good.

Do some research and you will see that investing in Ryzen is the best thing to do for someone building a new PC, be it for gaming or anything else.

Intel has and always will have better single core performance. On core heavy tasks, AMD will win due to a lot more cores. But for lesser core based tasks (gaming) Intel wins because it's more efficient

They are, right now unreal 4 engine does not like AMD... Not saying AMD VS Intel BS, just right now the game engine is iffy with AMD CPUs... The game is early access it will get better over time. Another game that uses same engine is squad & people with AMD cpus have issues too vs intel.

Not 100% of the time tho... My 980Ti can get 140fps, but saying you always "achieve" it is a damn lie... I bet you are sub 100FPS 98% of the time with that 2% 140fps every few secs during gameplay...

I have an overclocked Intel Core i7 6700k @4.3Ghz, 32 GB DDR4 @3466Mhz and a GTX 1080's SLI. Running the game at max settings, screen scale at 105%, at 1080p.

The maximum average fps I get are 90ish (looking up to the sky and the ocean doesn't count, I hit 144 fps doing that). At towns I get 60ish, and I suffer stuttering into houses and departments and my fps hits 50s sometimes.

The game is VERY VERY far away from decent optimization.
same specs as urs except i have only ony 1080, i hit 90 in town.

Dual titan xp, 64gb ram and i9 should do the trick :)
