Actually, sometimes, if you load in at exactly the right moment (on me, typically if the game finishes loading between the time the warm-up ends and the plane starts moving), the sound for the rain would fail to initialize and you won't be hearing it throughout the entire match.

Still, it's actually supposed to be an audio handicap, making silenced and faraway shots less noticeable and concealing your footsteps.

That one is the reason firstperson-only servers are a good thing.

Also, well, there's the problem with the game typically loaing at that exact time even if I leave four or five lobbies, so the choice I have is to either not play or to play regardless of the rain or world sounds (plane rotor whirring's included, even with cargo drops).
