Playing on Ultra settings.
Our resident expert on RAM usage has said no game uses more than 3.5gig of ram, you sure you aren't mistaken? :)
secondly: i seen someone say games use 16GB of ram now a days, id like to see a list of games claiming 16GB recommend for system specs.... aside from intensive vr games (which probably dont even use 16GB).
third: operating systems dont use 3.5GB of ram lol, maybe garbage windows 10, win 8? maybe but that one sucks as well, win 7? nope barely uses 2GB on my system.
fourth: this game needs optimization for game coding itself and hardware optimization for all the "different" pc setups out in the world playing the game, thats what EA is for and what closed testing was for back in the day.

@OP im guessing your graphics card doesnt have alot of vram? if so then the game will eat your ram till it hits 100% then its will use the paging file on your hdd/ssd.
basically the game was using 100% hdd and 100% ram and was making the game and the pc super slow, game took forever to close and wouldnt stop the hdd from hitting 100% till i closed steam.
so i moved the game off my hdd and put it on my msata ssd and added a second paging file which was created on my msata ssd, plus the launch options which im not sure works anymore, but needless to say i fixed my problem, other than that the games min specs will be what the game will run decently on after all optimization is done (game is released).
Ark survival on all epic can use around 15gig. No game(I'm aware of) claims 16gig min because running at lower settings will reduce the amount of memory used in many cases.
15gb is way too much. You're having memory leak problems.
Unlike what some might believe, once you start cranking up your settings it all starts depend on your graphics card+cpu.
Ark using 15gb of memory was literally a memory leak issue, LOL!
I have a gtx 970 oc, 4gb vram is enough since I don't play in 4k or 1440p
you still dont know they claim 4gb......it only has 3.5
well i cant speculate on how much vram the game uses or how much with different setups, but my gfx card is 2GB vram, since your situation is like mine and the others i can only assume the game is using all 4GB vram on your card then ram and moving to paging file.
edit: have you tried everything on low at 1080p? to see if the memory leak still happens?
However, this isn't the case of ram, it's about how many background programs you're currently running.
To best run PUBG, run only pubg. This means no chrome, no music player, no programs. also disable antivirus programs. Running any programs in the background will cause memory leaks.
i would never ever recommend disabling an antivirus just to run a game LOL.
i5-6600k gtx 970 OC, 8gb 2666hz cl13 ddr4.
My memory is fine.
