Only mantle allows the vram to be combined
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_games_that_support_Mantle
i know it is as they stopped it after ms annonced dx12 which has not delivered much yet either
Your vRAM will stay the same, but you got double processing power on same amount of memory and thet is the whole point of Crossfire.
You might ask yourself why not 100% gain - well simply because the memory bandwidth becomes a bottleneck and 2 CPUs ( GPUs ) can't be fully utilized.
If you can get another gfx card which is same as yours for cheap I can recommend it greatly.
Unreal Engine 4 does have several titles now that use it, but Blue Hole/AMD have not yet implemented it for PUBG.
I have an extra R9 Fury just sitting around...
There is no question at all if game supports it or not, game doesn't even know if you are a Crossfire user or not. Don't listen to un-educated people or read ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the internet.
To make it clear you will achieve 50-70% gains is absolutely all uses, from games to synthetic tests and video encoding.
To back it up with some real world testing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVVJPbFRDEc (in some tests and games even 100% increase is possible - when less than all available vRAM is used).
Watch the video from 3:40 onwards and thank me later. Once you buy your RX480 you will have 2 beasts in crossfire for 200$ less than 1080 AND you will be bashing the 1080 in half the tests.
When I had Crossfire I was extremely satisfied so don't listen to noobs, dumbos and all those people who are just jelly.

Obviously, no, you aren't saying this from 1st hand experience using crossfire in this game. You could have just said "no" and saved a lot of typing.
You're the weasel here mate.
I just recently came back to PUBG because I heard that there were performance optimizations, so i figured i'd try again. And yes, one of the latest patches did have some performance improvements. (+20-30fps)
However I can confirm that PUBG as of January 2018 foes not support Crossfire, just like it didn't before. I have 2x R9 270X`s, and as soon as I turn crossfire on I get stutter, freezing and about 40% less fps than running just one card.
