High RAM usage
Hi fellow PUBG gamers!

A few days ago Ive formatted both my systems to a fresh Win10 64bit and optimised it via two youtube tutorials from Tech City.

Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U_R_tKwtas
And
Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwiHog2leMM

So like with all new games I play, after every PC cleanup and format I monitor my system temps and performance with regards to the specific games I test and I couldnt help but notice memory usage of up to 12gb in game while my system normally uses around 2-3gb at idle.

This didn't bother me too much because Ive got 32GBs and 16Gbs in my two systems, but what did bothered me a bit today was that my main system used up to 15.5GBs of RAM max at a point in game while it used 2.5GB of RAM on idle.

I dont play with any open browsers or anything else mainly because of my s*** 4mb copper line and the fact that I'm from RSA and have to play on EU servers.

Almost 16GB seems quite a lot!

I didnt do anything else in the background when I played this game today (I prefer to run the least amount of background apps during my gaming sessions).

I only use MSI Afterburner to monitor in the background.

Are their any other gamers that have noticed this while playing PUBG?

*PS - I do enjoy this game a lot!
Cant wait to see how it turns out!
It would especially be nice if RSA had servers as well.
But I am getting 20mb Fibre in a few weeks, so that should make a difference to all my online gaming.

Cheers

You play on ultra?
Thats normal then...

the "recommended" is what it consumes regulary
thats arround 8gb ram (with system together) on medium quality and everything else low-medium
Ultra consumes arround 10-12gb ram

if a game needs 6gb it means that there is 100% capacity on a 6gb system

They still can improve (and they did already clear 2gb ram from closed beta to early access - more will follow sooner or later)

The game had a memory leak, they said it in the patch notes. The last patch made it worse so they rolled it back. New patch in a few days should fix it I guess.

Mine uses 6-8 but I only play 2-3 rounds at a time, possible it builds up a lot. Maybe worth checking how much it uses on load and how much after 1 game.

Probably a mini-leak somewhere, bound to happen with early access etc.

Any recommended spec's should take into account several gb usage for normal day to day systems. A lot don't which is really annoying in the software world, all they would need is an extra line saying 'recommended X resources free'.

Recomended specs are exactly that, recommended specs, not recommended recources available. If it says 8GB then you should have 8gb installed, not 8gb free.

Yeah I know, but they should say resources free - I'm speaking generally here after nearly 2 decades in the software world I've seen so many people question why they have to buy extra memory or whatnot because it's not taken into account a general resource level of what a computer uses anyway.

If you kinda see what I mean.

yeah and those are system + game running at peak
Not like 100% ram usage kills your system, it works as intended as long as there is no overflow of ~10-25% (which would make the game crash instantly to save the rig)

If 8gb are recommended it means that the maximum peak is 8gb ram together with the recommended system stats on medium - slighly high

minimum of 6gb is not given at the current point, it probably won't even start with their desired minimum stats. (on very low)
the game has 8gb minimum on low-medium (very low a little less -- maybe even those 6gb.. havnt tested it but i dont believe that one)

Yeah i do. I guess i always have more so you may well be right. If games say 8gb ill.put in 16gb. When they start saying 16 ill probably go 32 so yeah the min specs dont really leave much headroom if somthing goes a bit funny.

Always a wise plan!

Flying Fox what do you think : is 12GB RAM Enough to play on very low, low, medium?
