Is there no option to change your scaling to 16:9? Sure, doing so means that you won't get to take advantage of your wide-screen. And I understand that this is half the point of your post.
However, at least you wouldn't be able to say that you're "unable" to play since you'd be on the same level as everyone else. I know, running 16:9 on a 21:9 screen is a let down, but it's no different than everyone else's 16:9.
It's like having a 1080ti but be forced to play the game like you have a 10 years old crap card... that's is OK for a EA title.. but if this consequence is due to a bad decision (without thinking at the collateral effects) then you can't blame people to criticize it, and ask for a fix asap.
It was so easy to bind the FOV to a GUI control.. maybe 30 minutes coding time? There's more important things to fix I agree.. but they would have avoided all this negative posts!
I'm glad that you are able to run the game perfectly. Unfortunately a lot of us are still held firmly by the balls by the devs, at least for the time being.
Thanks so far for the comments gentlemen. Insight and opinions, even if they differ, are always welcome.
They didn't.. you have a middle class monitor, that is only 1080p in height, the game looks messed up on a proper 21:9 monitor (3440x1440).
It also looks bad on a 30" 16:10 monitor: everything is zoomed in and it's like seeing the world using a binocular, it gives motion sickness.
To accomodate everyone, the solution should have been to add the FOV slider, before enforcing the .ini lock.
So far there is no solution to the problem for us. Thanks anyways though matey.
I'll do so :)
It's actually quite different. The game looks like absolute poop on a much higher resolution monitor when you lower it that much. Also, these are aspect ratios and they are not equal.
