I had always assumed so but I heard a streamer mention something last night that made it seem that it wasn't the case.
While vests you want the higher number (even if its a level 1 vs level 2 sometimes the level 1 may have more than the level 2 - check number) helmets are different because the level 3 actually covers your face, while others do not. So, with a level 3 helmet you'll always be more protected.
You can 1 shot a person by face tapping them if they have a lvl 1-2 helmet?
it doesn't matter if your face is covered with the helmets. headshot is headshot in this game.
to put it simple One shot weapons by helmet:
level 3 helmet: (sniper) AWM, (shotguns) S686, S1897
level 2 helmet: (sniper) AWM, M24, (shotguns) S686, S1897, S12K
level 1 helmet: (sniper) AWM, M24, Kar98, (DMR)SKS, (shotguns)S686, S1897, S12K
No helmet: (sniper)AWM, M24, Kar98, (dmr)SKS, (assault rifle)AKM, SCAR, M16a4, M416, (LMG)M249, (smg)Tommy Gun, (shotgun)S686, S1897, S12K, (pistol)R1895
i know you can oneshot ppl with helmet. but he said you do more dmg if you hit the face while a helmet is equipped
I've seen people say that helmets have their own hitbox, if thats the case, then yes.
Solution is... go to a duo with a friend, get a level 2 helmet, shoot him in the face with a weak gun, see the damage shoot him in the back of the head, see the damage, get a level 3, shoot him in the face, see the damage, shoot him in the back of the head, see the damage. Should be easy enough to confirm. That should do it.
So for example, let's say level 1 vest will stop 50% damage but has durability of 75.
If vest takes 75 damage it's destoryed and no longer offers the 50% damage reduction.
level 3 vest will also stop 50% damage but has 150 durabilty. If the vest takes 75 damage, it still has 75 durability and still offers the damage mitigation. If it takes another 75 damage, then it's destroyed and offers no damage mitigation.
Also vests add more carryign capacity (not sure if this is increased by vest level).
maybe a dev can confirm this?
