Better off with a quality set of stereo headphones. Your brain will do the work. It's up to the devs of a game to do good sound design if you want to be able to tell where a sound is coming from.

A lot of these "surround sound" headsets are really two speakers, and software to change the sound to make it seem as it is suround. I'd rather just hear the sound as it was intended.

Even if there are multiple speakers in the headset, they are too close to actually make any difference. Marketing.

You need a true surround speaker setup, and space between the speakers and you, for true surround sound.

That's a load of BS. Virtual 7.1 surround is the best for this kinds of games, being able to tell where the footsteps/shots are exactly coming from is key to winning.
Yupp, that's right. And if you understood what he said, you'd have understood that this is much more precisely possible with plain stereo settings instead of virtual surround.

This game MUST have 7.1 NOW!!!!

Developpers have enought money for do that with 30 millions game sold, unacceptable!!

PUBG will send a surround sound signal if your default audio device is configured for it. With a surround signal the "virtual surround sound" could in theory work. I have always been skeptical but will try it out. Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb6dMYkc6r8

I have the same headset, much easier to tell direction of sounds on Stereo. Yes it sounds good on 7.1 but can't tell direction. Don't believe the game is coded for 7.1.

I have the same headset and do not use the simulated 7 channel. I actually ended up plugging my old headsets into the sound card that comes with the headset because I find the headset too big for my pinhead.

What these guys who claim stereo is better for PUBG seem to be unaware of is that PUBG has six discrete audio tracks. So although Bulehole says PUBG doesn't support surround audio maybe that really means they are not yet using those six tracks but any product that can take advantage of those tracks can provide superior directional informtion as compared to stereo. I use a headset with Dolby "virtual" 5.1, and I have repeatedly tested it against stereo and found the simulated 5.1 gives me much better directional information. I've also noticed I can often locate the source of sounds much better than my friends who use stereo headsets.

Try it for yourself before you believe those who say stereo is the only way to go.
