Guns defaulting to single shot
I pick up an uzi, run upstairs, and get ambushed by someone with a shotgun. They miss.

"Aha," I think to myself, "I've got you now!"

I hold down left mouse button.

pew

"..."

One bullet silently hits their face, and they are still very much alive. It is at this point that I have realized my grave mistake of not setting the uzi to full auto.

Their second shot hits me straight in my chest and I go down instantly. Their third finishes me off. The levels of sodium in my bloodstream at that very moment should have killed me, but I survived off of anger and angst alone.

TL;DR - Please for the love of god, default guns to auto mode instead of single shot, or at least make it an option for the players to set.

Just switch it to auto when you pick it up. Make it habit.

or...the second you reload set the gun to the fire mode you want.

They should give an option that your weapons go to full auto when you pick them up.

I agree it should be a player option, rather than defaulting one way or another.

Actually,:steammocking: when you pick up the gun you should have to stop and load the ammo from the box it is in into a magazine. Then you should have to go to the range and zero the iron sights and then any optics you find should be zeroed at the range. :steamsad:
tbh i almost always play on single fire and just click fast??? ymmv

Single fire is for long distance engagements to help control your recoil and sight alignment. Full auto is for close quarters and suppression.

I don't see any issue with adding in an option to set what it defaults to. Players using full auto during long range engagements are almost just as handicapped as players using single shot in close quarters.

There is no reason to insult people for wanting an option added to the game. Insults just make it look like you have no real argument against their idea.

Its perfectly fine to do that but you get more benefits if you tap fire in full auto because you can instantly start spraying if needed.

Thank you. Another argument for it defaulting to full auto (or at least allowing you to set it as an option) is that during very early game, you're going to be in close-quarters combat and you'll probably find an auto-able rifle or smg. In that situation you're going to want it to be full auto because, as you said, close-quarters.

Seeing as i almost always use single fire mode, this is a terrible idea. Just train yourself to switch fire mode when you pick up your gun. Hey presto, done.

I agree, but the problem is when you don't realize that it's in single-fire mode! Lol. I automatically expect an SMG to default to auto, not single.

What's the harm in adding in the option if possible? You can still single fire while in auto mode, you just tap the mouse. Auto is the most flexible mode. Instead of defaulting to something so specific, why not make it auto or at least give players the option?

yes but if you shoot a gun irl you should never use full auto and always use semi cuz full auto is gonna hurt your damn shoulder and a waste of ammo and money and for semi is just good in general :P
