Is there hidden MMR?
Matchmaker Ratings, for those who don't know, are typically hidden stats that keep an eye on a player's overall performance, and is used to attempt to drop people into crowds with roughly similar ratings. Some MMR systems are better than others at making an even skill level per match.

My question is, does PUBG use a hidden MMR? I ask as I think back to my first day in the game (I only play Solo), and having a fairly simple time with it, even having one of those 'miracle' matches with 8 kills on that first evening (sadly, the statistics server was on the fritz so it wasn't recorded). And these days, eh, not so much. Other players are getting visibly better and less stupid. Still surviving well, but it could always be better.

And then I'm watching this Lets Play I watch regularly, and the guy, who is always running around in a Duo or Team with his YouTuber buds, and then for an episode he decides to Solo to try to work on his individual skill. And is somehow dropped into matches where instead of the usual 30% death rate per five minutes for the match population, it's closer to 50% death rate per five minutes. Which implies a whole lot of noobs and idiots constantly charging face-first into bullets. It definitely suggests an MMR system in play, and this YouTuber just hadn't established his Solo MMR at all.

So, anyone know for certain whether or not PUBG uses hidden MMR?

Almost certainly no, I've never seen anything that would hint at a hidden MMR at 90 hours played.

It is intended. But it's not implemented at this point.

In my experience A vast majority of solo game drops to 40 people alive by the first 5 minutes, it's normal. There's only so many places you can drop.

most people all drop as soon they can which mean the closest town or military base , most of those die quick

I think there something like an hidden mmr, because when i play with one of my friends ( he has more than 200 hours on the game ) i get only 1 kill most of the time 0. But when i play with my friends who bought the game with me and have also only 30 hours than i get around 2-4 kills every game sometimes more and i also won with them more often.

I don't know about any hidden mmr or anything alike, but here is something I have experienced: When I started playing a few weeks ago, I usually ended up at around top 20 and often even in top 10 (at this Point I had about 250k rating in the 3 rating brackets. After I won a game, I Went down to about 80k rating in all 3 brackets. Since my first win, I struggle to make it pass top 40, and I usually end up dying at around top 50-60, even though I do my best to play strategic etc.
I just experience that the top 60 players after my first win is alot better at playing strategic and aiming better etc, compared to the top 30 Before my first win. Ofcourse this doesn't prove anything, it just feels like there is something about the 3 brackets that might be matching you with Another 100 players around the same rating. However, it is up for every1 to make their own conclusion of this.

thread is old, but there definitely is MMR. its mentioned on the PUBG FAQ, its not yet finalised and theyre using early access to tweak the ranking system for final release (rumoured ranked and unranked servers).
games that im in now im always seeing familiar names ranked in the top 250 or so, yet when i jump in solo (i dont play it) i have undefined MMR and encounter a lot of potatoes.

yeah. When I Q with friends who are bad at the game, I do amazing. The people im up against have potato aim. When I solo Q I am put with people who have amazing "gamesense" and can do 90 degree flicks to my head. The game isnt really fun to play by myself anymore.

I might like the game if there was a form of skill based, MMR, match making rating system. There is no way possible there is one or it's used much at all to decide who plays together. So no there is not one.

Bigger, better companies, that have proven themselves, have a hard time balancing any MMR into their shooters with 16v16 system of 32 players. This game has 100 players and it's a small indie development team that is unproven yet, based off of how quick you get a game you can really tell yourself it takes any of your stats into account, you'd be a fool to think that.

Just takes people who are ready to play by region and throws them together, nothing to the match making of PUBG. It would take too long to get a game if they had balanced match for skill. And I doubt PUBG of all games/companies figured out a way to do it...highly doubt.

So no but wishful thinking, I wish there was too

There is MMR matchmaking, it has been mentioned officially.

I got to about rank ~30 in squads and queues were much longer. Like 5-15 mins instead of 1-3 mins. Higher ranked ppl vs other higher ranked ppl, the names are the same.

Read the FAQ. There is a MMR.

Guys, check the date on the OP for a sec.

I think yes there is. As this game start to put me automatic to Asian server I started to play there. About 5 first games was so easy. Seems like people didn't even know how to shoot. KD was 13+ and best game was 23 kills. After 40+ games there it seems like people are getting better and better. No easy kills anymore and its hard to get 10 kills per round.

E: Also it take way longer to get in match than before.
