"Failed to initialize player" error on startup.

Game wo't launch. "Failed to initialize Direct3D.
Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.

That's the error I get. Ihave a geforce gtx 970m Vide card with the latest drivers installed. Tried changing to compatability mode and made sure the geforce was being used as I have the Optimus system. 2 video cards one on oard and one dedicated. Any ideas?

1. Uninstall and reinstall the game.
2. Try selecting your motherboard video card if you have one (this game shouldn't require much)
3. Add "-force-opengl" to the launch options.

(Setting launch options instuctions)
Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
Under the General tab click the Set launch options... button.
Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK.
Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.
