Population doesnt grow
Hi, i found already that i should deactivate the east point academy. Also i reduced the graphic options. Hospitals are in "birth help" mode. But i think, that cant be the problem. The population is stuck at 476 at the moment and is decreasing (no births too). Hiring experts works, but shouldnt be the solution for over 100 free jobs. Also nearly 500 isnt a high pop. I had way more in the past on the same pc...

The population cap doesn't start kicking in until around 1400, then it acts really weird and rarely ever gets above 1508 or so, but under 500 isn't a population cap issue (it's less than 1400.)

Your people could be starving to death, they could be leaving the island due to bad conditions. Even people turning into Rebels will (I think) cause them to disappear from the population count.

Ways to increase your population, in addition to fixing problems like the ones listed above include:
1. Create an Immigration Office set to "Open Doors"
2. Officially speaking, increase the average wage. Personally, I've never considered/noticed this to work very well though.
[mild spoilers follow - I didn't mark the above two hints as spoilers because the game volinteers them if you don't turn off "hints" in game.]
3. Ban Contraception (*)

4. Unoffically speaking: I strongly suspect that building lots of empty housing units encourages people to immigrate and increase population.
5. Get more docks... immigrants can appear on every ship, and despite being dependant on other factors such as the above, more ships coming in tends to give you a lot more people unless you have an immigration office set to something other than "Open Doors" or "Skilled Workers." (No Immigration office is fine in this respect as it won't stop people from immigrating the way I-Office settings like "Tropico First" will.)

* - Note: I used to think that "Same Sex Marriages" hurt population growth, but I'm now starting to think that gay people in Tropico are actually "born gay", (for real - based on someone talking about the actual code) and that allowing gays to marry won't hurt the population because they're gay and are likely to just stay single rather than enter heterosexual marriages if "Same Sex Marriages" isn't issued.

Hi, thanks for your answer with good thoughts and your time. I already deleted the savegame and restartet the level some days later. No problem at all with the same playstyle...

1. is one of my first buildings everytime + open doors of course.
2. i try always to have the wages set early up. in this case it was already up to 10 from 5 in the first minutes.i cant verify how much the impact is to more immigrants, but its raises up the happiness great.
3. thats an interesting point. i think in my case the system had some problem with something. hospitals with birth support very full, lots of free adults. enough food, happiness wasnt to low at that point. i even raised more than doubled the wages. free food, free apartments houses with power, free medical stuff and social support. of course later the complete system crashed because i had so much free jobs and nothing worked anymore. but until than, the circumstances were way better than in some other levels or missions. they were 0 kids anymore and 0 immigrants. the pop counter was only going down^^
4. there were way enough apartements like in point 3 written. i had even some at mines or other buildings ooutside the maincity and it was free.
5. i also try to get the second dock very early and a bit later a third.

i really think that the population engine crashed . they only died and later emmigrated of course... no other changes regarding the pop. very strange.
