4k interface is impossibly small to use
Is there a fix other than lowering the desktop/game resolution?

Barely it is – since its interface is raster and non-scalable the only way to change its size is to make the interface images bigger, but I don't know where the images are located.
I'll wait for other answers with you, maybe someone will find the solution

Best solution I've found is to run at 1920/1080 and live with it. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but you're not alone in your frustration.

So, you're look for a resolution HIGHER than 1920 x whatever?

The menu for me has plenty of resolutions between 1024x768 up to 1920x1200 all of which work. It also has mode higher than my 1920x1200 monitor up to 2560x1600.
I've never heard anything about any of them not working.

Have you tried both Windows and Full-screen modes from the Options menu?

He meant the UI, the icons and buttons look smaller when using 4K resolution. Which they do, and only solution is to decrease the game resolution to like 1080p.
Not a fix ingame, but I hate playing games fullscreen at lower res so I use this program https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

V handy for 4k when can't run it well in 4k or UI is too small.
