Who's the main character?
Every fighting game has that one character that's meant to be the "Ryu" in the cast, so what about TFH?

Arizona's the one with the opening chapter for story mode. Is it her?
Oleander serves as a substitute for Twilight Sparkle, who's clearly the main character for MLP. Plus she's the one who teaches you everything in the tutorials. Is it her?

Just wondering because the devs never commented on the subject.

Personally I think it would be a breath of fresh air if for once there isn't a "Ryu".

The more evenly spread the protagonist role among the 7+ characters, the better.

Your main, and by extension you, are the main character

The game having less characters than most fighting games means that all of them can equally share the role much easier than games that have to juggle 20+ characters, and they have to mark some as more important than most of them so that the story has at least some focus to it. Not a problem here, all 6 of them are the collective main character. The Mane 6.

Even if that's true, only one of them can get the key and stop the predators. They don't get to put their differences aside and work together. And story modes in fighting games are always scripted; the outcome won't be determined by the player.

Agreed, I think this hits the mark.

Lui kang was basically the main character in mortal kombat but characters like sub zero and scorpion are the most recognisable in that series to a point that they might as well be considered the "ryu" of that game.
(honestly, i'm not a mk fan and i'm going off of what little knowledge i have but i believe i'm right or at least i know that was the case for the first game also i'm not sure how relevant this fact is to this discussion but i suppose it might put things into perspective idk.)

If anything, Sub-Zero and Scorpion would be the "poster boys" for that series, but canonically, neither of them has ever been the main protagonist. Killer Instinct has something similar going on with Fulgore; he's the one you always saw first on the box art and the advertisements, even though Jago was the focus in the narrative.

Arizona probably, because she is the poster girl and its the first playable characater of the story mode

well we have "main 6", so...

Arizona is "Ryu", Oleander is "Ken"?
