Hey fellas let's discuss strategies for beating Velvet on the single player... I'm getting destroyed by her and I'm about to slap myself in anger

I have no idea. I've been fighting her for hours. I'm no fighting game expert and I'm playing on casual, but she just seems untouchable. Her low ice attack is fast and has a longer range than Ari's rope. She'll get you with that before you can complete the rope throw nearly every time.

I can maybe get past her first stage with a sliver of health left, but she'll just immediately end the fight with her next attack. You can 't back away from her, because she can hit you from below, you cant get near her because of her range. This fight is so heavily stacked against Arizona and I have no idea how to get a chance.

So I seem to have a problem that after I lose the first time and redo the cutscene and manage to beat Velvet's first fase she just sits and Arizona gets stuck after her dialogue.

This fight is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, They gave her 3 life bars, 2 extras phases where she's stronger than usual while you get only one and is zoned the ♥♥♥♥ out by a cheap Ai that reads your inputs.

The game stopped being fun for me there. Not even in MK 11 towers I faced such level of BS.

Yeah, it seems to be really hard to get close enough and hit her. Try your best to not receive any damage at the first two rounds, the second one be sure to be close to her once it starts and maybe the stomping attack may help you.

I've just discovered that at the third round once you get very very close to her, she'll get disgusted and then is when you can hit her, but if you don't make a combo she will make her special attack again and you'll have to get close.

No kidding. on second phase you only take half of her life and then she gets angry because you damaged her fluff and goes all wild and recovers her life fully.

And I'm on playing on casual mode. I don't want to know how it will be in hard mode o.o

Nice! I will try again later.

By the way, they need to add more ways to heal when you're not on battle mode. You see. I did a side mission on Velvet's town which is by entering through the back of one of the houses. I managed to complete it but ended with just 1 HP, as in one hit I get on battle mode and is KO (thank goodness when fighting Velvet you get your HP refilled). There is no way to heal on the town, mostly since I used those orbs to heal myself on that side mission I mentioned.

This is kinda troubling because on the museum there is a hidden room where you find a bear predator sleeping and if you awake him or try to take the MiniVelvet plushie he has, he will attack you, so unless you have full HP or a good strategy if you arrive with low HP, it will be game over.

Ironicly I managed to defeat that bear by creating a simple strategy. Using the rope to pull him towards you, hit him a few times and move away from him. Wait for him to get on the necessary distance for the rope to work to pull him towards you and attack and get away. repeat till you defeat him.

Now I need to practice more against Velvet. she sure is hard XD

Yeah! I did those side quests and luckily I didn't get much trouble. Of course it got kinda hard into the caves under the houses, but yet not a big deal for me.

And yeah, of course you're gonna need it to beat her, like you said with the bear it works a lot using your rope, specially at the beggining of a round and then the stomp attack may help too, once you get to the third round you must be really concentrated.

I already reached a more advanced zone but I think I'll take a break and keep playing later, don't wanna spoil anything. I really hope you can make it :3

Thing with Velvet is that on the second phase they added wind and that makes it harder to fight, then on the third phase is a literal hell with how she protects herself on that tornado and keeps attacking plus the wind is stronger than on the second phase.

They abused the difficult level even on casual mode. For anyone that isn't that good on fighting games it will be a hell on earth.

Not even games like Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat were that sadistic on the CPU's AI o.o

Can confirm: I'm not good at fighting games, and even on casual mode this boss is 100% hell on earth.
I can get through the first phase of Velvito's attack pretty easily. I just wait until she attacks then I charge her and use a low attack, then repeat until the falls down. The wind in the second phase throws everything off though

At the beginning you can rope her immediately, i like to set her up into the corner but half the time it doesnt help me at all anyways, but if u set her up into the corner phase 2 is easier because u can start by hitting a low on her n keep her in the corner by phase 3 i thought oh we just dodge attacks til she gets tired but nope turns out i need to actually rush her down which, wth idk if I can, sure we did movement practice before this but its not like we mastered it going through it once and I was prone to cheesing it for the cuddles fight honestly, cuddles was awesome velvet is making me frustrated. Huggles I found took me ages too but that i was learning the whole time so it didnt bother me as much, Velvet is ridiculous. I think I should've put the difficulty on casual now xD instead of Experienced. I've played her prolly 40+ times made it to stage 3 only 3 or 4 times.

Phase 2 you need to dash jump hold back to block but if you do that a few times she knocks u back with ice attacks then eventually once ur in punching range for after u block n get knocked back like right on her sometimes she'll do a combo instead. So its like I need to bait her projectile then ram attack n hope she doesn't block it. Also can't do a mix-up on wakeup reliably (unless its from behind or she is being generous) she instantly does a move to dodge her hitbox or i frames or something.

edit: Another 20 matches made it to phase 3 now (i totally shouldve chose casual, but 'casual' sounds ez then 'experienced' sounds hard but there was 2 harder difficulties than experienced so thought itd be ok, i dont play fighting games competitively but have played like 8 casually) And used an ult to reach her but died even tho i saw her making a frown, idk what im supposed to do phase 3, ult faster lol.

again edit: whenever i try to deal with phase 1 more efficiently i seem to only do worse or its luck, sometimes when i jump in i can hit off of them waking up after i first combo other times i cant, then after that its nearly impossible and when i jump block method it just gives her chip damage n sometimes she gets me anyways or moves away.

3rd edit: ok so turns out fast punch is useless, after-all she can interrupt it whenever she wants and the range is shorter it deals less damage and in a combo it only serves to weaken your future attacks faster so is pointless. Stopping fast punch helped me considerably, useless move.

4th: Ya idk everything i do seems to be wrong cant figure out the opponent i should stop trying new things n keep whatever first works, like the jump in while blocking but that didnt feel consistent sometimes either

5th: Ok so when u finally land a combo u need to jump in while blocking to stay on her then can do another if she doesnt input read, and idk if i can launch twice in a combo forgot to try that

6th: Run toward her the game says, how about stay back, whenever i run forward i get wrekt, i can bait her back some n did better than i ignored that run toward her advice the game gives phase 2, well IF i can land lassos, sometimes she just doesnt let me until she enters a different move left/right pattern slightly different distance so i need to move left/right like a bot too or something. Idek. Im getting worse over time.

7th: Would be nice if after i lasso pressing punch is saved to input so i dont miss the timing when it finallyyy lands then i am pressing a slower move then it gets blocked and i wasted my landing lasso

8th: Guess i have to lower the difficulty, no idea how I even made it to round 3 a few other times, cuz i cant now.

What difficulties are you guys playing on? I've had to re-do the fight a couple of times, but it's nothing that made me grind to a halt. Velvet is essentially one big Boss Mode lesson on how to handle ranged fighters.

Lasso will help you a lot here (and in future), so just get used to the distance and timing of using it on enemies.

The lassos she instantly jumps on Experienced difficulty except if you do it right when match starts, combo, then right on wakeup after that. You can try baiting it but she will read input as to which rope you are doing (or if not inputs it sees first frame n recognizes it) and can differentiate it between anti-air rope and other rope so 80% chance of missing it seems like u have to do it right when she does a projectile but sometimes the projectile will hit u or her hitbox will dodge it.
