Can't voice chat?

Just a quick check - is there a trick to using mike chat? I'm holding the talk button {C by default, but remapping it to R does nothing either} and I see no indicator that voice is coming through.

The indicator only shows up if your mic is actively receiving voice input, so you'd need to actually be talking. If it's still not working, check in windows and in steam what your default recording devices are, because that's what TFH goes through for voice chat.

That worked, I guess! It kept going for my headset mike {which I had switched off}, so when I just went and disabled that as a device, it fell back on the desk mike.

Sometimes it just glitches and stops working and I don't know why...

I'm also having microphone issues. Mind you, I've never used this mic headset before, but Steam appears to register it and I can test it just fine, but in the Pixel Lobby, it doesn't activate at all.
