So you never actually go to (SPOILERS)...
... the beastlands. I mean the entire first 1/2 of the game is one long cliffhanger bait and switch before it finally settles into typical DQ evil demon lord blah blah blah... but does anyone else feel a bit trolled by the developers? :steammocking:

You were on your way to Al-Kazam, the three beast kingdoms are painted on your map, but you never actually go there and they don't actually exist in the game (unless there's something postgame I don't know about).

You're correct that you don't go to any of the cities in the beastlands, but to be fair, there's only two cities you ever actually go to that aren't your home base for the game - Ingenia and Harba (I c wut u did thar...) which is quite unfortunate. When I was given the impression this would be a 'free roaming' DQ heroes at the start, I thought it would also have similar systems to previous mainstream DQ games, that we'd have more than one town, access to multiple different markets, with things being limited based on which market you're in... I honestly would have preferred it if they fleshed out the cities more and made them actual cities instead of combat maps.

On the topic of endgame spoiler ♥♥♥♥, is anybody else disappointed in the post-game singleplayer maps? In the previous game you had repeatable 'quests' that were ACTUAL MISSIONS. With this, once you finish the main story and the very, very few quests, there's... really nothing to do unless you spend your entire time on the multiplayer dungeons. It's disappointing really. It's especially annoying because of the whole 'collect all monster medals' thing. I'm not sure that's actually an achievement but I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ completionist, and given that the chances of getting medals ANYWHERE OTHER THAN A MISSION is almost the same as seeing a Metal Family monster spawn naturally. I am missing a LOT of medals and I know a good chunk of them are post-game enemies that don't show up in missions unless they show up in multiplayer.

The battle of Harba has boss troll, cannibox medal. The battle of Pinnacle (base) has pandora box.
Master moosifer in deadwoods central area which Kiryl dispelled the barrier in the 1st world. The rest I believe you can encounter them free roaming or MP maps. These were basically the medals I missed on 2 playthru. Loss leader, master moosifer have quite low spawn and drop rate for his medal.

The problem is that even if you know the location of the monster, you still have to kill a crap ton of said monster if you're not in a multiplayer/story mission, because as I said in my rant, the monster medals drop way, WAY too infrequently. Thank you for the assistance, though. I really hope that these 'weekly updates' are going to add some actual content to the game, hopefully some endgame (remotely challenging) stuff.

Also, uh, side question. The only enemy types I've had issues with so far have been the assorted lesser knights (IE Rose Guardin, etc.) Is there an accessory in this for ignoring their shileds, like in the first game, or did they remove that? Because there's a lot of places where I'm having issues dealing with them because of their whole 'you're in front of me, you can't hurt me' trope.

Use AOE magic to end them quickly such as ZAP or use a mage class character.
