How does your party look like?

So I was leveling all people the same and swapped them in and out until level 18/19 and then a large battle happened, which I also had to repeat once because I fought too many non-objective monsters on my first attempt, and suddenly I have a four man squad of lvl 24/25 towering above the rest.

How do you guys do it? Do you pick a certain combination or keep everyone leveled the same? Who are you using for your adventurers party?

I currently got: Teresa as mage, Desdemona, Maya and Torneko. Everyone else is now being behind quite a bit. Any concerns regarding this combo? Anything you guys found working especially well together?

I just play the characters I want at the moment. I'll swap one in/out depending on the main characters vocation. Lower level characters will catch up fairly quickly if you run around killing stuff in the world. I'm also where you are in the story TC.

My current party:

Teresa: Mage - teens (already got 20 thief/priest)
Desdemona: mid 20s
Meena: mid 20s
Maya: mid 20s

Torneko: late teens/early 20s
Cesar: late teens/early 20s
The rest: mid teens

Don't have Alena, Kiryl or Jessica yet. Everybody seems to work fine together, just keep a healer in the party (though you might have to jump to them and heal at times).

My set up is male hero (forget his default name) as a martial artist, Jessica, Meena, and Maya. I'll probably switch my class to gladiator when I unlock it soon, but otherwise I don't switch my party out at all. I have my favs, and I stick with them.

i play the cheerleading squad since the AI is crap at fighting. they do a decent job at support tho.

MC- claws/MA (has better stats then GLAD)
Priest- for heals and defensive buff
Angelo - attack and tension buff
Meena - back up heal and defensive debuff

with that the MC is super buffed and i get speed kill bonus on everything

Are they your favourites because of appearance or skill? Did you decide for them right away or after trying everyone else?

Terry is awesome. I didn't like him at all in DQ1 but he was done poorly there characterwise imo. The rly hard decision is always between Desdemona, Terry and Cesar. They are all three awesome as warriors!

I see, that's also a very neat idea. Having everyone work for the boss, hehe. Is the AI really that bad? I'm usually busy with myself so I don't really watch them. I just noticed they fail hard on bosses with oneshot ability, but dps quite good on bosses without that. Trash mobs and minibosses - no clue.

Jessica is one of my favorite DQ characters across all DQ games, so she was a no-brainer for me to use. As for the twins, I decided on them after trying the other characters I liked (Torneko, Carver, Desdemona, Female MC) and deciding that they were the most useful complements to my play style.

Right now I got my twin sword warrior laz at 32. 30 Meena and Taloon. 4th character is whoever i feel like, I haven't got Angelo yet but if he's as good as Bianca in DQH1 he'll probably be in the main rotation.

Basically I'm aiming to have a party with all the same qualities that was in my best DQH1 party. Not sure how that's going to work out because I don't have all the characters yet.

man never thought of this... they do suck at fighting though haha

now playing it some more and reaching post game. i think gladiator is better overall in single player because u can maintain the buffs.

MA is better in multiplayer because of self heals and buffs.
