No Tau in the campaign at all?!?!?!!?
As I have been playing through the various campaigns it dawned on me I had not encountered the tau?!?? With any faction...

So if my 2 min worth of googling is correct, due to lore reasons the tau are not involved in the campaign?!?!

Is it just me or is that crazy?!!?!!

Why would you spend the time and energy making a faction you were not gonna include in a mainly single player game’s campaign !?!?

Lore?!?!

Crazy talk!

The Tau area of influence is on the other side of the galaxy and they dont even have access to warp drives. Well, I guess they could have placed the necron or tyranid campains close to them or something. But...

Of just say ,

“Oh, what do you know we were wrong.... there was a tau outpost over here?!??.... “

Or

“Oops , jokers finally reverse engineered a warp drive?!?!?”

“Who would have ever thunk it!?!??”

I am a wh/wh40k lore/game fan and I didn’t know that obscure point...

Like 95% of the customers wil be single player.... why would you only make a race only relevant for multiplayer?!!!!

Crazy talk?!?

Now that I think of it, canonically there was a huge warp rift that cleaved the galaxy in two that was caused by the fall of Cadia that happened in the tutorial. That warp rift swallowed a big Tau armada that was going to invade somewhere. They could technically have been spat out anywhere along the rift. Including right next to Cadia!

Such a missed opportunity!
Im going to add the Tau to the campaign for my mod (Skalgrim Mod, google is your friend), as an optional submod.

originally the dev's said they would make a grand campaign for all races, but it looks as if that's not happening anymore cant say im surprised more dev's abandoning games once they've made profit.
They were working on it even, as us modders can see in the files there are alot of unused stuff that points to such a grand campaign (tau assets like stations for instance, or SM chapter specific abilities, to name some) but when Focus pulled the plug on them - well that was that. Now if they hadn't gone back on their promises to us modders, we would have been able to implement that on our own, but things are as they are. Still some of us are still working on adding more content to the game.

So they will be playable or you can fight against them? If we are fighting against them, will it be possible to knock them out with scripted missions?

we are talking fantasy fiction?!?!?!

there are all kinda ways to come up with a lore friendly excuse...

maybe they stole a warp drive... or just developed the tech..maybe they found a webway gate..

First up Im making them an AI faction. We cannot make our own, or change scripted missions, they will not feature in any meaningfull way in scripted missions.

Dire_Venom is making a Tau campaign, but Im not sure how far he has gotten with that project.

I might make them a playable faction in the campaign, but its a big might as there are pretty big problems to overcome since we cannot change scripts etc.

A warp drive is just part of the difficulty in getting over, Geller fields are required to safely traverse the Warp and a Navigator is needed to actually guide the ship. The Tau can easily get Warp drives and Geller field generators (rogue traders will sell anything to anyone, which causes no end of trouble), the hard part is a Navigator. Ethereals are the only Tau Psykers, and not all of them would be able to navigate. Jumping blind is dangerous, and you could end up anywhere and anywhen and might even end up part of a space hulk.

A webway gate would be a more feasible method, though most of the gates would be well guarded in case Chaos tries to seize them and attack Craftworlds linked to them.
The most feasible method would probably be necron tech actually. At least if its true that the Tau are related to the Necrotyrs who also did not have much of a warp presence.

Explain the Nurgle "Blessed" ships then. Stinky is an understatement about those.

Tau are still only half canon. Since GW chose to have the tau having no warp presence, their place is still not earned in the universe. It just makes zero sense that Tau don't have chaos corruption.
They are the only faction not grim dark...

Them eradicating entire species with insidious means isn't "Grim Dark" ? Or them enslaving entire species isn't "Grim Dark"? Neither Necrons or Tyranids have chaos corruption - doesn't make these factions less grim nor dark.
