Good Space Marine fleet compositions?
New player here, been playing 1x1 with mostly a lore friendly white scars fleet with light cruisers. Although i lose most of the time sneaking up on the enemies is quite fun!

Anyone got some ideas for a 1x1 space marine fleet composition? All around? Against specific enemies?

2 battle barges or 1 barge and 3 cruisers

2 battle barges is the worst fleet u can manage,due to their low movility,actually i found marines one of the weakest factions.

yeah the times i used battle barges i found them really bad. Im having better chances with light cruisers.

And yeah space marines dont seem strong. Im a newbie, but its just strange that i can see my enemies fielding 4 battleships as imperial navy, or lots of grand cruisers/battleships as chaos, while i can only field 4 strike cruisers, or 6 light cruisers and 2 escorts as space marines.

Bring loads of boarding torpedoes. Strike cruiser boarding does alot of damage too. Boost to target and turn it into a hulk before their shield goes down.

Full strike cruiser, no barges no nothing. The ones with boarding torpedoes - you get 6 in 1v1 or 5 in 2v2. Try it, you may like it. Easy to manage as all ships are identical, lots of boarding of all kind, fine mobility. You also don't care that much for losing a flagship as your guys don't run, so you may pick fleet-wide upgrades and eliminate this weakness entirely save for the active abilities on the flag. I had some success with this setup, definitely more than with barges.

Light cruisers for Marines are ignorable IMO, I can't see anything they are able to do well or capitalize on.

Space marine light cruisers are faster than scout ships. Board and gtfo and back into stealth with silent running. Wait for cooldown and repeat.

at least 1 ship with launch bays is good to have, to launch a fighter squad infront of the torps to absorve turret damage,and give some tactical suport.

yes are very fast, but are paper made, and a few hability loads, just 2

That. unfortunately, doesn't work so well besides on paper. They literally just suck, being squishy, few skill loads and barely existent firepower, all while being only a little cheaper than good strike cruisers.

Between fielding say 5 good ships or 6 nearly useless I choose the former any day.

1 lance battle barge with the lance strike cruisers w/ an escort works pretty well if you set lock on target with the lance range upgrade maxed out the lance barge has 20+ range using the lances you can try and crit enemy ships from range before you engage but this still has limited effect due to how weak SM dps is and how boarding works when pitted up against certain fleets like orks, nids, and any fleet comp that vastly outnumbers/guns you
