Tyranids Autokilling Ships
Hi kinda curious, what is it that allows tyranids to near instantly kill a ship so that despite it having full health, it is a drifting hulk? I am new to this game and especially the tyranids and am interested in knowing to avoid future incidents.

Check for crew damage first and foremost. One of tyranid prime specialities is depopulating enemy ships in record time.

I see. How to defend against this crew damage? They seem to instantly chew through my shields too, I had a chaos flagship killed in one go by something I couldn't see.

Pretty sure 'Nids have suicide ships

Their boarding actions, more specifically there assault boats that are very tiny on the screen so unless you alt to reveal object information you probably won’t see them

Recrew your ship with boarding action of your own. The penalty is annoying but not the end of the world.

its the end of the world when they can auto depop your battleships in one action (happened to me last multiplayer game against two fresh undamaged capital ships as Necrons)

pretty sure them being able to hulk a ship in one shot is a bug

Have you lost your capital ship?

Have more ships. Don't bring a few large things.

Good advice, except you cant pick your fleet before you see who you are against.

Oh, try not to design a fleet with a fatal flaw then.

necrons can clear ordnance with starpulse
nids have 4 assault boats per bay that do 3 crew damage each
if you have seperated ships, no fighter cover and get succesfully boarded by assault boats(wich you almost need to do effort to achieve with how easy they die to point defense)
21 assault boats landing can hulk a cairn

you screwed up massively to do that
didnt do anything to stop them at all

I had a similar issue, playing nids vs Nids, my hiveship instantlly exploded, leaving a spore field behind, like when self destroying escorts, no idea what happened, she was full health, half shields and just went boom

Tyranid main strength is reducing crew to zero. If the ship doesn't have any allies nearby, it's basically like a mission kill since it's helpless.

Your main strength is distance. Tyranid ranged weapons are bad, and if spotted from far away they can't do much to you directly. Faster ships can kind of kite their assault boats, and all cruisers have a skill that recovers the number of crew present.

Any boarding action (even friendly boarding torpedoes I think) can restore a deep crewed ship. In 2v2 your ally can even re crew your ships to allow you to regain control.
