What's the point of level up ships? (Campaign)

Hello,

I'm just wondering what exactly are the benefits of leveling up ships. I'm not talking about the Admiral. the Captain or the Renown. Just the level up (1-4) from a ship itself.

I compared 2 imperial PK's, one level 4 and one level 1, and the only difference was a sligtly higher value in crit chance and bravery?

I would expect something like better hull or, higher firerate, dunno more troops?

So I'm a bit confused. Anyone any idea?

Nevermind. I was looking on the wrong parts of the screens. To see the difference between a lvl 1 Crew and a lvl 4 Crew you need to hover your mouse over the small white bars (the rank icon). The difference don't show up on the main stat screen itself

Also to note is the upgrades you unlock for ships in the campaign apply only to ships of specific ranks and above, a level 2 ship can have the secondary strategium upgrade for example but level 1s cannot.

When do I unlock the level 3 upgrades? I allready have one SS Ship, but stil can't unlock those upgrades. Which renown level/Ship type do I need?

Most of the 3rd level upgrades require specific points of interest at evolution level 3 to unlock. Aside from that renown level 4 should be the minimum needed for most of them, and unlocking the prerequisite upgrades too.

Kinda wierd then. I own the first 3 Sectors, all on max evolution. Currently fighting on the Sector 4 and 5 (Tyrandis, Necrons, Orcs) and I am on Renown 8. Maybe I missed something. But I will keep playing and see if it get unlocked soon. Thank you again!

Yes, I finally realized now which upgrades are meant. I didn't know they were linked to the renown upgrades and thought it's an upgrade itself for all ships in the sector after unlocking it on the planet. Thanks!
