Im having the same fatal error on startup, tho I love this game too much to leave, i´ll give it a couple days before they fix it, many people are having this issue so I guess its their priority to fix it

There's a technical FAQ pinned in the game's Technical Suport sub-forum. You need to go read it and try out some of the solutions referenced.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/573100/discussions/1/1742231705651511476/

Here's the entry for the "FATAL ERROR at startup" error:

FATAL ERROR MESSAGE AT THE STARTUP

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the Users folder then your Windows username folder.
4. Navigate to AppData (*) > Local > BattlefleetGothic2 > Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor.
5. Open the Game.ini file.
6. Set bFirstLaunch to False (bFirstLaunch=False).
7. If bFirstLaunch is missing, please add the following line:

bFirstLaunch=False

8. Save and run Battlefleet Gothic Armada II.

(*) AppData is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7
- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click View tab and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click View tab and check Hidden items.

If that solution doesn't work you may want to disable the anti-cheat engine in the game's start-up options, if you are not playing coop or multiplayer.

On the official forums Jellyfoosh suggested this for me and it worked:
"-monitor=0" "-WinX=0 -WinY=0" in advanced launch options. I can now load the game up!

Ok, great - Jellyfoosh also just posted a thread about that fix here in the Steam forums:

Hi, please try following these steps to fix this issue. It seems to be related to players with multiple screens, and we think we have found a temporary workaround:
1. Go to the properties of BFG2 on Steam
2. In the general tab, Set Launch option.
3. Type in "-WinX=0 -WinY=0"
4. Launch the game again.
5. Please let us know if it works! 🙂

Tried both solutions. With the first solution, the Game.ini file had nothing in it...

I have done everything. I have tried the posted solutions, I have tried verifying game files and I have tried reinstalling. I have posted on the discussion multiple times and it is getting frustrating that I am not getting any real help from support staff for the game I paid money for!

Have you tried contacting people on discord?

Yup, no response...

None of these solutions worked for me. Been having this issue for months. No reply from devs.

I found a solution that works for me. In GeForce Experience, before I launch Gothic Armada 2, I set the graphics to the lowest and then launch the game. That seems to work and I just change my graphics while in game...
