Chaos really are missing their old mutated ships as it stands now, they are bastardized Imperial ships, but with none of the former advantages. Chaos needs passive HP regen for Nurgle, maneuver trickery with Tzeentch, boarding frenzy with Khorne and Slannesh for whatever dildos she-male might stand for.
With Chaos I generally
Kite Imps, Orks, Necrons, Nids, SM
Board Mechanicus, Tau,
Ram & board Eldar
Seems to work most of the time. Don't know about high level play though.
When it comes to being jack of all trades, it creates issues with most match ups. If you do not counter them perfectly, you lose as you do not have any inherent strengths over your opponent. Everything you have is mediocre while opponent will have far more efficient, specialised ships. Usually when you do jack of all trades, but master of none type race or a ship, you tend to give them really good everything for their cost. This is the only way why someone would choose an unit if it is quite good for its price at everything. Not because it is meh for its price. You have to give an edge even in universality in competitive environment for an unit to remain viable or otherwise it will get outshined by specialized ships in every match. Chaos either needs unique tools to carry their mediocre ships, powerful ship mutations or more sensible weapons. Missiles being too stupid in grim future of 41st millenia to fly in all directions. Lances who are piss weak. Speed which gets outmatched regularly by non movement based raced, etc.
"I win my games but things are unfair and unbalanced."
Clearly the issues you are having are not affecting you. This game, as all warhammer games, has asymmetrical races.
This means that every race is not equal. Some will do things very well, and others will do things poorly. Certain match ups are unfavorable, but not necessarily unwinnable, as you seem to be so fond of stating that you win the majority of your games.
I really don't understand what you're complaining about. You win. You outplay or outsmart the enemy so what is the issue?
Are you just upset that you can't blow ships up instantly with massive damage as Chaos where other races can?
Start playing another race if you'd rather cause massive damage instead of damage over time.
Insta win against Ad Mech. Only a few types of fleet can out brawl it and due to hugemongous cost Ad Mech ain't one.
pfffffffffffft
Their toughest matchup is Necrons and orks. Otherwise they fare pretty well in my experience.
If you suffer against ad mech you simply need to work on your thruster usage and fleet spacing. Chaos wins the matchup if you dodge the novas. The majority of chaos ships move at 200 speed which is faster than most other fleets, actually the fastest fleet in the game.
Why would eldar and tau be ‘catching’ you? You should be catching them.
It just seems like you need to play chaos more and learn the matchups. That would be my advice to you.
You have higher hull points and troop / morale values than those factions respectively. In those cases you should be the aggressor. You still have 67 armour and the ability to ram ya know.
