How do you play Eldar?
I'm trying to figure out how to play them....and I'm having terrible luck. I love the Craftworld Eldar, as they are my favorite faction, but in this it seems REALLY difficult. Any tips? Advice?

(As a sidenote, how the ♥♥♥♥ do you deal with the "Capture the khan' mission for the Necron story?)

Care to explain why?

because eldar is probably the most hated race ingame? abusing stealth and speed to avoid all combat and ghost cap points.

for craftworld eldar i believe you only use the starfall dragonship. so you close in and hammer in a 8torpedo strike against the enemy then either use runic stance to broadside while keeping your holofields or reload for massive damage spike (especially good against isolated ships to delete them faster)

and with your speed you can easily force the enemy to split up to defend cap points or you go around ghost capping them all with running silent escorts

I attempted to use them against AI many times to get a feel for them before going into PvP. It feels...difficult to build a decent fleet and what not.

there is no diversity with eldar. or atleast from what i've heard from other players. its torpedo/macro cruisers for craftworld and nothing else or atleast no other choices are point efficent

BC is way overpriced
LC cost almost as much as a cruiser with alot worse dps but have running silent if you want to abuse that vs other players

dont bother with hangar bays you get too little of them and are vastly overpriced
and pulsars are a bit weak atleast compared to the lascannons (macro) since lascannons get almost double damage from reload stance. and can use runic targetting to give you a broadside option to maintain holofields while firing

(starfall dragonship has 28dps macro damage and with reload i believe that bumps up to around 50+ dps) and your torpedoes pack a huge alpha strike if you can land them. (720 damage ignoring armor if they all land from your cruisers)

But aren't eldar like....now powerless due to the Torpedo amount nerf?
Warhunter Mar 7, 2019 @ 11:23am
well i believe torpedoes got hit a bit too hard they are still quite strong.
way better than hangar bays. infact i truly believe hangar bays are a trap for new players for most factions. they offer so little unless you overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers

8torpedoes dealing 720 burst damage could easily take out large ships (if you have 2 of them go in and close range salvo it in the face)

since other races only get 6 torpedoes for cruiser ships and they only reduce armor not ignore it

and the lascannons will eat ships to pieces due to their massive dps

they are also probably the cheapest eldar ship of their tier. allowing you to field so many point efficent ships

I see. I'd love to really get into the Eldar...so...I want lascannons on my ships and stuff? With torpedoes?
Warhunter Mar 7, 2019 @ 11:55am
pretty much. pulsar fleets can work for bursting ships and fleeing. but lascannons tend to be overall more potent. and not be useless for the 20seconds the pulsar ships have to wait.

hangar bays are vastly overpriced and a bit slow damage wise compared to torpedoes that help the burst damage the eldar use to hit and run especially vs isolated ships

also kin crewed batteries will also help vastly boost your lascannon damage in reload stance. i dont remember how high it can get but its pretty damn insane if you can maintain firing

I dont really get the craftworld eldars, it just seems like a crappier version of corsair eldars? Do they have any advantages over them?
Warhunter Mar 7, 2019 @ 12:09pm
craftworld have better armor and dont have the fragile debuff? other than that i dont believe there is much difference at all

so craftworld doesnt lose their generator as easily as corsairs and are slightly more durable to enemy attacks. but dont enjoy the shrouded hull buff or the multiple engines that corsair have

so corsairs are alot more sneaky sneaky unless you go voidstalker and harass the enemy with 13.5k range (or 18k range with the upgrade for flagship) and fragile. craftworld are more tanky for a upfront engagement

Tindalos made a big mistake with Aeldari LC's they only have one barrage too. Play Corsairs untill/if they get fixed. The Starfall dragonship is probably still the best crusier to use, just dont waste your one and only torpedo volly.
Warhunter Mar 7, 2019 @ 1:30pm
damn really? thats kind of stupid thought it only affected their cruiser...

They've nerfed the torpedoes due to their intense damage, so you get one meaty spread per ship, use them to take out high value targets. As for general play, you basically have to kite the enemy and focus one ship down with massed starcannon fire at a time, while maintaining holofields on whatever ships the enemy has decided to attack, usually by running away.

The long and short is that they're corsairs that can afford to be spotted more, and can trade fire up close since they out dps most other vessels.

They require a lot of micromanagement in a single engagement, and that just becomes heavy macromanagement if you split your fleet up.

Why do the Eldar always have to be so complex...
