Chance for warp to simply destroy a ship?
It isn't a daemon attack (which destroys a ship if it has no troops left from the attack)

See Here.[i.imgur.com] Even in-game the pop-up said it successfully escaped via warp.

I guess the chance is pretty low. I only had it happen once in my 100 hours, though I'm afraid it'll happen every time now.

I've never encountered this.
Could it be that the ship was almost destroyed, when you warped out? There's also a daemon attack dealing a random amount of hull damage that can destroy the ship, if its hull points get reduced to zero by that.

I was watching it. No explosions, pop-up saying it successfully warped out. The deamon warp effect is to lose 2 troop, and if there are no troops left, the ship is destroyed. Can tell on that screenshot it has lots of troops still.

Yeah well that sucks....

Hey my ship is in danger, lets retreat...
game: nope.

I meant a different dangers of the warp effect. There is one, doing troop damage and another one that damages the hull. The ship can be destroyed by either of those.
IIRC it does 50-100 damage. Line ships usually survive it, but I did lose the occasional escort to it.

If a ship is destroyed by a warp effect, does it also show you that a warp effect affected that destroyed ship? Or does it only say destroyed, nothing else? I hope it'd show you the warp effect still. Maybe the hull damage one did affect it--never seen this one (I always hover over them)

There is an effect I've not had it yet, perhaps happens only if you retreat before a battle, which destroys a ship outright regardless of crew and HP.

Very low chance to happen.

That wasn't it. This was far into combat. Oh well, not a biggie. Just an example of how very little is clear in the game.

just a warning, that effect seems a lot more common in the Necron campaign.

i've lost a fair few number of Cairns to it.

I really don't remember right now, sorry.
I mostly remember it from showing up on a line ship and they always survived.
I know, some escorts died after warping out, but they weren't important enough to remember. Sorry.
I just saw the thread and thought, it could have been that damage effect that got your ship.

In the newest Beta you can at least order ships to 'retreat' and move off the map without jumping to Warp, which AFAIK is safe but slower. Still, it's odd for Necron ships to suffer it since they don't usually use warp travel at all.
