Enemy Range
I don`t know Why, but every single enemy in this game seems to have better range than my ships. They can shoot me from a long distance and I have to get closer to then to be able to fight then, what end up being a pain in the ass to do, especially when you are fighting against the Tyranids. How do I increase my range to be able to see, and fire against then??

There are long range weapons, lances in general. imperials also have plasma macro cannons on the larger ships.

Make sure your using skills to increase view range even if you have to use escorts/fighters as your eyes for the long range guns.

If you mouse over your guns in the ship tab you will see the blue range icon light up on the side of the ship the weapon fires.

Also the lock on command skill will increase your range while it is active.

Failing that more ordinance and movement skills to allow closing faster or better. micro jump, improvements to your engines. even stasis bombs to hold them in place.

Chaos is built for range, if your playing Imperials or orks there guns are shorter range but hit harder. So an alternate option is to up your defence/engine skills to allow you to close. also try to target their engines where possible so once your close they cannot out run you.

Thanks man, that helped me a lot. I`m still not good to the game, but I`m able to fight back now.
