Campaing: How do Obtain Battleplans?
I was under the impression that you would get one if you performed a Lightning Strike against the opposing fleet´s Flagship, but so far, nothing.

Any help?

only encountered a single flagship with 1 of them so they arent common or maybe the one i encountered was scripted and they dont spawn til after the 1st sector

In the Cadia sector there ist a system in the lower right corner called "Exeltra Minor" that has "Gas Cloud" in it with a "Listening Post". The "Listening Post" says that you get an enemy faction Battleplan every 8/6/4 turns, but that seems to not work for me. Does anyone have an idea how thta works?

Listening Post

level 1- 1X plan 8 turns
Level 2 1X plan 6 turns
Level 3 1Xplan 4 turns

Listening post are bugged, devs are looking into it

I think i know now how the Listening post works. There has to be an Enemy Fleet in the neighboring system, so the listening post has something to listen to.

by the way, I get no Battleplans and own already 3 sectors.

@Blitzwing

Not all flagships have battleplans so there is a chance you haven't seen one, and you have to capture them using a boarding action, if you destroy the ship the battleplan is lost. The enemy can also recapture battleplans by boarding whichever of your ships is holding the battleplan.

Since observation posts are either broke or work like Duke said this is the only real way to obtain battleplans so its no suprise you havent got any if you havent been actively looking for them.

@Duke

It might work like that but with the placement of some of the listening posts I doubt it, for example the Listening post in the Chinchare sector only has one connected system, which means for it to be useful you would have to lose the system you captured the listening post from.

The other planets with planetary bonuses that effect connected systems do not seem to share this problem and the description of the listening post says nothing about needing a neighbouring enemy fleet.

Just did some testing in a new campaign, listening posts collect in sector if enemy controlled systems are present

So use boarding and keep 1 enemy fleet in sector ? Ok I will try that.
Chaos12Legion Jan 27, 2019 @ 8:13pm
Just be aware that the enemy can steal the battleplan back in combat just like they did in that mission in game 1. Its honestly the same mission just that the enemy wont leave and you have other objectives. Theres a few ways to get them:

1. Win a battle where you have stolen the battle plan you will see a parchement next to the ships hp (Be careful they can steal it back and I dont think you get that one if you destroy them with it, its always there flag ship that has it if they have it, not all battles contain one but if so the parchment is there next to there ships hp)

2. Certain planetsystems contain a way to get battleplans in a certain ammounts of turns. You need to uppgrade that planet, gascloud or whatnot to reduce the turns it takes to get 1 battleplan.

3. Im not fully certain yet but some campaign missions might have some but I havent seen that or know of that yet or sofar in my imperial campaign.

There might be some other ways to gain this if you play Necron or Tyranid campaign I have yet to try them.

That's just...stupid. Not only does the ability have zero mention of that requirement, but who the hell would leave active fleets in their systems instead of wiping them out?

I think I've had enough. Putting this game on the backburner for a few months and seeing what patches shake out.

@Chaos12Legion

I'm rhink most of the main campaign missions give them, cant know for sure though

I have a ton of Bp's
listening post seems to work just fine
dunno if lightning strike collects, boarding party side does

might be a limit on how many Bp's can be obtained in one battle
did boarding strikes on 2 ships, each with Bp's flag, only received 1 Bp
Toadkiller Dog Jan 30, 2019 @ 11:23am
Yeah, I do a whole lot of boarding actions to try and kill off the enemy flagships, and I'm just swimming in battleplans. I suspect it's boarding the enemy flagship, probably any boarding action. I rarely use lightning strikes if I can do better.
It's also just a good tactic in general to get rid of the enemy's biggest ships without having to chip past all their hull points.

About listening posts. Mind that the timer resets after you upgrade it, so if on lvl 1 it'd take 8 turns, 7 of them passed and you upgraded - you will have to wait new 6 turns, resulting in only 1 BP for 13 turns. And if you didn't wait full 6 turns and upgraded on 5th - welp, that means that you will only get 1 BP for 16 turns. Then it'll generate normally 1 BP for 4 turns, sure, but that's quite a delay, if you ask me.
At least that happened in my game, not very sure if a bug or not.

Have just tested this and its not true. Have it upgraded to 6 turns and just rolled through 7. Still 0. This campaign is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ now sadly as ive only got 3 days left and theyre fortified in with ~1200 fleet + mines, platforms and space station...

Anyone know how to cheat to get battle plans? I only want the 3 that I should have had by now...
