Horace Loopurkle? Seriously?
I just watched a Let's Play by EnterElysium and now I've got one question:

Who is this Horace Loopurkle the narrator is talking about?

Seriously devs, Horus Lupercal is one of the most important figures in all of Warhammer 40k lore, and you didn't even get the pronunciation of his name right? (EE wasn't exactly happy about this either...)

Are there many errors like this in the game or is this an exception?

Nobody cares about stupid 30k lore

Well, it's 40k lore, too.

Speak for yourself, I really enjoy all the lore of the 40k universe.
There are a few pronunciation issues for sure but then I have seen them in a lot of games, without official clarifications its up to the individuals to come up with what they think is the correct pronunciation, but I admit this one is a bit stupid!

Yeah, the Loopurkle thing's pretty bad.
The only other mispronunciation I've found so far is Leman Roose instead of Russ.
It's a bit embarrassing, really...

Ever Listended to a BL Audiobook? ROOOSSS & Horace are by far NOT the worst out there.

You know what the game means. We know what the game means move along and enjoy the pretty pictures and kabooms. becuase frankly. the artstyle of the game is rather fantastic and a nice take.

As a matter of fact, I have. Quite a lot actually. In none of them were those names mispronounced as far as I remember.
I don't really care either way, and I'm enjoying the game very much. I just find it funny. :D

Consider where Tindalos comes from, France I believe, the VA's might have been directed by a French person who would pronounce such things differently.
Captain Proton Jan 17, 2019 @ 10:04am
Well, they could have at least googled the guy.
According to the WH40k wiki he was also known as "The Lupercal".
Did they really think this was pronounced "The Loopurkle"? Lol.
:steammocking:

Leman Rooss is OK if you take into account that the Space Wolves are basically genetically engineered space vikings and pronounce the name like a scandinavian name. But Horace Loopurkle makes me cringe every time. I don't get why most native English speakers pronounce Latin words as if they were English words. Few ever even try to get it right. Reminds me of the great general and dictator Gayus Djuhleeus Seesar. :P

Its Russ, the rtank is not called the leman roosse tank now is it. I think is so bad, just shows what GW has become.

you know, you could always play it with the sound off and narrate it yourself.... :)

B@d Cop might be right though. The only instance of the tank's name pronounced i can remember are DOW game, and they are hardly strict with the lore.
SW using old norse pronouncation is more plausable. Cosidering theat Russ is not a second name or nickname or whatever, it is the name of tribe Leman ended up in, and became their king eventualy, before conquering the whole Fenris. On Fenris he is know as Leman of Russ among other things.

the imperium is fractured, they don't pronounce stuff the same. there are no canon pronounciations either, if you hear something in an audiobook, it is just an audiobook (because there is no canon). PS: the R in russ is silent.

What GW has become?
You mean better in every single way compared to GW of 5-10 years ago, I agree.
