Creating Control Groups

I found a few forum topics for first Battlefleet Gothic with the same problem and most of them managed to solve this by rebinding the keys in the Options menu, but I don't see any group key bindings in Options for Armada II :-/

I had this problem. It happens if you bind the 1,2,3... keys to something else in the Option menu.

You need to dig up in the game files to find the folder that deals with keybinds and set them manually.

Luckly for you I bited the bullet for you and spent several hours searching them yesterday (with success).

(little warning, the location may vary on your pc, but this should help you alot)
You also have to allow Masked elements to be shown on your file explorer to be able to see the AppData folder
The option is on the Display option in your File explorer

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\BattlefleetGothic2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Then select "Input.ini"

In this block-notes document, you'll have to manually set 2 sets of comands:

The first one start with:
ActionMappings=(ActionName="GroupShip1",Key=One,bShift=False,bCtrl=True,bAlt=False,bCmd=False)
The other by:
ActionMappings=(ActionName="SelectShip1",Key=One,bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False)


The first one is for the grouping comands, the later for the selection of the Control Group. Just a reminder that your version should have random numbers on some of those lines.

Don't forget to save the changes before cloosing the block-notes document.
I think the fix may only apply once you launch the game, so I recommend doing that with the game cloosed then opening it.

It's strange, I can see this sequence of commands in my Input.ini, with the same format and going from GroupShip1 to GroupShip10, but they don't work. My right ctrl-button can't be used to set groups.

Oh I figured it out. The 1 key is bound to the 'Cut Thrusters' command. Pressing it just stops my ships in space.

Sorry, I forgot to update this topic - I didn't have to change any files. What helps is to change keyboard layout (alt+shift) to english one while in game.
My default language is different (CZ) and it seems BFG:A2 then doesn't register the keys correctly (those that are different from english ones).

hi nice for the solution. had the same problem with the game 1 and didnt remember how i fix it. Same story i have a qwerty keyboard but my default language is fr.

I suspected that was the case. I have everything set to Japanese Applocale, which has caused similar issues with other games. It seems strange that Tindalos wouldn't take EU languages into account though.

hum retry the alt+shift ingame but doesnt work. My game is in french but my laptop keyboard is qwerty. So crtl+1,2 doesnt work. only Crtl+"-" make 6 anf crtl+" ' " make 4.
Someone has a solution? problem already with the first game.

Same for me, i needed to change language from SVK to ENG. also works if changed in game

i confirm that this did the trick. my own keybord is in Canadian French multilingual, which is a french qwerty keyboard, BGA2 confuse it with the european french keyboard Azerty and give nonsensical keyboard shortcuts to the selectshipXX list like à ç è ^ or wtv instead of 1, 2, 3. the worst thing imo is that they are commands that you can't change!! what stupidity is this??!!

I have the same problem with Belgian azerty . What keys did you put in the ini file instead of the 'One' 'Two' etc? just putting & é " ' etc didn't work...

I finally managed it for French keyboards! I suspected the keybindings config file used other names for &, é, ", etc., so i set other commands in the ingame menu with those keys to find out what they were called in the txt file.

Ampersand, E_AccentAigu, Quote, Apostrophe, LeftParanthese, Hyphen, E_AccentGrave, Underscore, C_Cedille, are 1-9 and 0.
