No?

They're actually pretty easy to cheese once you get used to the AI.

One of the easiest is to just hide all your ships in a gas cloud and focus down their escorts - then crit down their engines and generators, order to player choice. They're vulnerable to lightning strikes which is the easiest way to crit them.

No, not really. Space marines can catch and take them apart with boarding fairly easily, while the AI is too stupid to avoid AdMech novacannon spam. With the Imperial Navy it's a bit more difficult, but like Aeinyes said, you can cheese the eldar AI.

Yeah no kidding about the Nova cannons, I won a mission because the eldar fleet all clumped up in a tiny ball and ate a blast right in the fat and I ended up finsihing off like 3 ship and badly damaging the rest. Probably the fastest I ever finished a mission.

Which campaign?

In Imperium one, I just use space marine cruiser fleet and board action them to win within 2 minutes.

Sounds like the space elves really did a number on you. It may help you to go into skirmish mode and look at the heretical elf ships in order to figure out how they work. They have some serious vulnerabilites. As in, Death Star level flaws.

The Eldar are easily the faction that suffers most from the arbitrary map edges. Even leaving aside their crippling weakness to boarding, it's fairly simple to just herd them into a corner with Ahead Full charges until they have nowhere left to run.

I certainly had issues with them at first, until I started doing what everyone else said... hide in a cloud/asteroid field and just nuke them as they come into view and do not chase.

Pro tip: Don't right click enemy ships and don't set them to automated mode except if you want ships to snipe an enemy with forward facing turrets. Just move the ships yourself - they'll fire on their own very well. Especially with imperial ships, you want to place them in a position, where they can fire in as many directions at once as they can. There is nothing more desireable for an IN line ship than beeing pincered by multiple opponents.

Eldar are the easiest factions to fight against in the campaign. Just clump your ships together, set them to "Lock On" stance and fly towards the enemies while scanning periodically with your escorts until they die. If they are dumb enough to actually dive your fleet, switch to "Reload" and see them becoming stardust one sidedly while ploughing through their ships. Don't split and don't break formation and Eldar become suddenly very easy.

No? Eldar just require you to adjust your tactics. They are very mobile and can drop a lot of firepower to quickly pick off weak and/or isolated ships. So you keep your fleet together and lead with your toughest ships.

They are very fragile anrd reliant on speed and holofields for survivability. So you concentrate on battery weapons (which holofields are less effective against than lances), keep Lock ON! stance activated and target their generators to hopefully crash the holofields.

Or you play Marines, put everything into silent running and board/lightning strike/Honor of the Chapter them to death while forcing them to come into range due to them being unable to even see you otherwise.

Thanks again guys, I no longer have issues at all

The AI uses them and Dark Eldar very badly. You can literally just chase them into a corner of the map. All they will do is run away, turn around to shoot at you briefly, then run away again . This means they aren't really damaging you all that much, and the moment they stop to turn around they'll eat a lot of firepower in return.
