Their arbitrary physics rules force us to use a plethora of pumps for literally anything and then they have the brilliant idea to make them noisy... in a game where audio goes through walls.
Can't make this up.
I like the new pump-sounds, but would be so nice to use one of the allready existing ingame-mechanics to fade the sound.
Another in-game mechanic which could be used, might be the per-room-heat-distribution.
Just connect this to sound-volumes.
Just dreaming......
1) Should have a volume slider or sound on/off option.
2) A few different sound files to choose from. (Engines especially...)
3) A few mixing sliders to change tone and pitch.
Not all creations are the same. You may want a cacophony of noise in a ratty tramp steamer build but in a sleek modern boat you may not. The ability to customize noises would add another layer of detail and depth to the building aspect of the game.
Now we struggle to hear pennies in a washing machine over six hair dryers.
How do you remove them?
From there theres all the sound files in different folders and you can delete or modify these sounds without causing any issues, even when the game is running. Go To the "fx6" folder and Delete - centrifugalpump_loop.ogg & electricpumpcompressor_loop.ogg . launch the game and there will be no sound because no more sound file :)
Yeah but that requires doing things in a way that involves logic, common sense and pleasing a player. The devs have shown that they cannot do any of the above.
