Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Plane flying uncontrollably
I'm currently building a medium sized plane. I power up and the plane takes off. The control surfaces don't seem to be doing anything and as a result, the plane does loops. I lose complete control. Anyone know why?

Try moving your center of mass forward, or moving your wings

Moving the wings up, down, forward or backward?

Make sure that you have that option on to see the centre of mass. You Ideally want your wings to be just in front of your centre of mass, any more forward will tilt the plane down, anymore back will do the opposite. Remember moving your wings will also change the centre of mass.

I usually keep centre of mass on. I'll have a go at your idea. This is my first plane, so I was wondering if there are any good gyros to use or if it is worth to even have one.

If you have to use a gyro to make a plane stable, you designed it wrong. You should be able to need almost no trim if everything is set up right

Appreciate the advice

I've tried all of the above but to no avail. The plane still loops in the air. Could it be because of the jet engines or the jet spoilers?

where are your engines
On the wings.

in pods underneath? in the wing roots?
In pods underneath the wing. I'll send some screenshots when I can.

Sounds like you have a turning moment from your engines.

Is the thrust vector in line with the centre of mass? Engines mounted below the wings suggests not.

That is probably what is causing your turning effect.

Are you able to control the aircraft if you keep the thrust very low?

Yawing works as far as I can tell. I'll test and see how much control I can get with low throttle.
