Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Tsunamis spawn WAY too often.
Tsunamis spawn WAY too often. Over the last 3 missions, there have been 5 tsunamis. I'm in career mode with 100 hrs in. There are no options in the menu to disable or reduce the frequency.

Does anyone know a way to disable or reduce the likelihood of a Tsunami?

Thanks.

There are hidden settings when making a new savegame, when selecting the respective addon.

I've got almost 4k hours and just recently discovered this, it's not obvious, nothing in the game hints at these options and not every addon has these options, making them easy to miss.

Textbook example of a terrible UI.

So there are options that allow you to adjust the frequency. However these settings don't translate 1:1 into the game, since these timers are influenced by other factors like revealed map, unlocked islands, I have no idea what else influences these timers, nothing explained as usual.
Ahhh. So I need to throw out my 100+ hour game and start a new one?

For career, yes. Every time a new block is being added you need to start over unless you play the career mode without research. 100+ hour career games made sense pre 1.0.

Now? Not nearly as much.
I do play career without research.

I think I found a work around. I commented out the
<playlist_name value="rom/data/missions/default_natural_disasters"/>
from the scene.xml file in my save.

Anyone reading this... I have NO idea if this will work or if it will corrupt the save, but in a few minutes of testing so far so good (at least the game still runs but problems may arise later?).

Is there no way to get rid of tsunamis altogether other than hacking the game? I'm pretty sure I got rid of everything related to natural disasters when I started my current game but I still get tsunamis from missions.

From what I know they never got rid of those and no way to change it.
Some missions (with the blue circle) will always come with natural disaster events, no matter if you enabled the addon or not. Same for the volcano smoke, they will always smoke, no matter if the addon is active or not. Bonkers...

At first it was default off so just turning natural disasters disabled them but now you have to also go in Default Mission Locations and disable natural disaster missions.

That's crazy. As far as I'm concerned tsunamis are fun to try once or twice and possibly useful for testing. Random tsunamis are just ridiculous. Nice to see that the developers still are as intent on not making a playable game as they were when I left a year ago

YohannfrankfurderIII, please let us know if your tweak works or if something gets corrupted.
