Train-Engine stalls when Gearbox is reversed
So, im trying to build a train. I used a large diesel engine, connected through a clutch and a Gearbox with the Train wheel assembly. I can perfectly drive forwards, but when i stop the train, release the clutch, switch the Gears to reverse, then the Engine just stalls and i can only start it again, after the Gearbox is pressed again. The Gear Ratios are just 1:1 and 1:-1 so the Problem cant be the Ratios.. for fun i didnt use any Microcontroller and i even disconnected my PID for Engine-RPS-Control... so i would be very grateful if anyone had an idea how to solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

The engine stalls because you're engaging reverse with forward momentum most likely.

Going to need a link to the vehicle in this one.

I thought the same, but even if i stop the train fully with brakes it does not work..

Are you using the same gearbox to step down when going forward? If you have a gearbox set to e.g. 3:1 for the off position and 1:-1 for the on position, it's going to need 3x as much torque in reverse.

It's better to have one gearbox always step down and another switch between 1:1 and 1:-1 (or between stepping up and 1:-1; you don't usually need to go as fast in reverse as forward).

just to try my creation i had only one gearbox wich was switching between 1:1 and 1:-1. The train could move forward very fast, but not in reverse...

OOOHHHH my God... I´ve found the Problem. After lots of testing i found, that the air scoop as air intake for the engine isnt working in negative velocity... i think it may be a Bug, but it works with the fluid port.

Well, i was going to take a look at it after i came back from stores, but that's an interesting find. I haven't actually used the scoops in any capacity in my creations, as i prefer flush air intakes.
