Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Stormworks: Build and Rescue

What is the Easiest Thing to Make in Stormworks?
I kinda suck at making things in Stormworks. My smooth brain cannot put this and that together and expect things to work immediately.

I'd say focus on small things to build up your knowledge on how things work in stormworks.
If you're playing in advanced, learn how to use pipes to link the engine to the things it needs, like fuel, air, etc. Microcontrollers and instrument panels are a whole other ball game, with logic involved. I recommend MrNJersey on YT; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz4UMwll78-6fi82TxZZt8Q , his guides (some are old) were and still are useful to me today.

Now I'd say the easiest vehicle to build is a boat. Not those huge OSV's or ships, just a regular boat - just like the one under 'presets'. If you are facing a creativity issue, look for videos on YT eg; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwhDC64Cvj0&ab_channel=MorleyMan that show you how to use angled blocks too create curved surfaces - this'll help with the creation of your structure.

Make some test builds if you can, builds that focus on particular areas; Modular engines, regular engines, maybe adding in some logic blocks and linking them together - anything.

Trust me, I have a lot of failed projects because I get to ambitious at times and add too many things at once, so please if you are struggling, focus on small steps before building something too difficult

Isn't that a bit much for someone trying to figure out how to build stuff in the first place?

Some pretty good suggestions from Bobosokoloko.

I'd say the build difficulty in ascending order would be something like this:
Static buildings -> boats -> helicopter -> plane -> VTOL -> cars/tanks

Start out with basic stuff first, try to hook up a prefab engine and get it to run. Then try getting it to run with a generator and gearboxes on the power output.

A good first vehicle would definitely a boat, doesn't have to be pretty, even a floating shoebox will do.

It's important to keep at it and finish it, no matter the end result. Will help you to get a feel for what will and what won't work with the games physics. After the third or fourth iteration of a vehicle it's gonna be a lot easier.

Can recall my first few builds, planning out the engine piping was troublesome at first, became second nature rather quickly.

I have a bunch of begginer tutorials o my channel under "Stormworks Basics"

https://youtube.com/channel/UCk4mmBsLxj3_8XvL7pdNqjQ

You may find them helpful. Currently the build tutorials include: car, modular engine, helicopter, and coaxial helicopter.

Personally, I'd rate stuff as:
static stuff>boats>cars>tanks>helis>multicopters>planes>jet VTOLs
but that also includes developing your own microcontrollers.

Static stuff is where you get familiar with cabins and electricity
boats where you get buoyancy, custom tanks, and diesels
cars you get close-circuit cooling and RPS control
tanks you get microcontrollers
helis introduce you to the gyro, more instruments and perhaps jets
multicopters are like helis, but with microcontrollers
planes require more aerodynamics and stabilizers
jet VTOLs require center of mass, center of thrust and center of lift balancing, sufficient micro controllers, and good RPS control, among other things.

Edit: and subs have to find a home somewhere, along with coal and nuclear craft...

I argue for starting with a boat to get the basics, but rather than committing to a basic shoebox or doghouse shaped hull, find something reasonably sized that interests you in real life. That way as it comes together you get more ambitious about adding stuff, rather than saying "okay, good enough. I'll try something else"

create an obsession with a project and you'll have a blast with it.

Just start small and work big. Keep it simple.

Get it to float.

Get it to stay upright.

Get it to move.

Get it to steer.

Get it to handle.

Get it to perform.

Save often. Test after every major logic step. I can't tell you the number of times I worked for hours adding in two or three new things that all conflict with each other and troubleshooting the problems took even more time.

an engine that overheats constantly

^he isn’t wrong.

Start with a basic train or single locomotive, all you have to worry about is how to propel it forward and back. Then move up from there.

How is it that I always forget trains? They even have their own dedicated workbenches!

That's what happens when you don't read/learn/listen and just play with infinite on.

instead of acting like a 5 year old because someone did not like how your making fun of him just because he does not know how a engine work or because he doesn't know how to play a game try to fase out of every comment i make

Never made fun of you grow a freakin brain and by acting like you are you are proving that you are the 5 year old lmao.

Edit: And by the way this is still not making fun of you.
Also you react this way to a lol that wasn't even mocking you wait until the real trolls of this forum come out to play you will see what mocking is.

I agree with the rooster. My first build was a catamaran vessel with a foldable 40 m long crane and several winches for recovering and securing cargo. I failed so miserably so many times with that build and when I finally got it working I realised it was way too ugly so I scrapped it and started my next build. I guess it depends on who you are but this is how I learn how to play games.
