Confused about Search & Destroy DLC
So, i bought all the DLCs since they were cheap during the summer sale and i hoped they would add some variety to the missions i get.
But, i need some hints regarding S&D. I understand that i can capture certain bases and it seems the enemy does the same. But.. i don't understand why i'm doing this? It looks like capturing a base does not give me any benefits: I still have to buy the island if i want to use it. I don't get any resources like money or research points from it. So.. whats the point?

Sidenote: had several game crashes now since i bought the DLC's. Didn't had a single one before

I want to disable this! I just want Guns to defend against the kraken and don't play CtF

You can disable it in addon settings before starting a game.

Whats the point of capturing bases?

There is no point in capturing bases or killing npc vehicles. You do it just because you can as everything else in the game. The defs long ago forgot about career or any goal.

The point of the DLC was to placate the very vocal Discord minority that wanted pew pew guns. However, as has been the case with every DLC, the results were a tech demo of shoehorned-in functionality that didn't have a foundation within the existing game, i.e. a lack of a responsive damage model, AI, or a viable progression system.

Sad to hear.. kinda a huge missed opportunity.
Wouldn't have been hard to implement some simple mechanics like getting a certain amount of cash/research points for each captured base per hour. That alone would give a reason to actually capture them.
Or, replace buying the bases with capturing them.

Search and destroy defo needs some attention, like a reward system for killing enemy types and missions..

This goes for most of the games systems/mechanics.

There's no point to vanilla conquest mode, apparently you're supposed to do regular missions / containers for cash and research points while at the same time having to combat hostiles.

I can recommend to ditch the vanilla conquest mode and use this gem instead:
