measuring boiler pressure?
hi i am new to steam engines and need some help, in all the videos i can find online they connect a dial to a logic node that says pressure on the boiler but for me it doesn't show up, I'm not sure if those videos are outdated or not so I would appreciate it if anyone knows how to do this.

if u do please respond :steamhappy::

You don't "need" to read boiler pressure. I was a fake number before so they removed it. If you want to read steam pressure put a pressure node after the boiler and read the pressure there. It maxes out at 60 atm.

It wasn't a fake number. Boiler pressure always was steam volume in liters divided by 70.
At 700 liters the boiler would reach 10 pressure and explode.
This was only possible with the fresh water to steam conversion ratio being 1:100.
They changed it to 1:1 for some reason, no mention in the changelog anywhere.

Boilers spawn with 175l. Turning 1:1 into steam results into a maximum of 2.5 of the old pressure value readout (175/70).

They just didn't bother to either increase the boilers internal volume (seems to be 175l for both steam AND water) or change the explosion to take place at either 2.5 value of the old readout, or at 60atm.

It's easier to simply delete stuff/remove functionality rather than doing a proper fix. Maybe for the same reason they removed temperature being pressure dependent shortly after the compressible gasses update went live.

They also could have used the new atm pressure readout which already exists on the detailed boiler tooltip.

so do you just need to divide the boiler volume by 70?

You basically don't have to care about it anymore.

If you are looking at a guide from before the gas update then you can ignore anything they are doing to keep the boiler from exploding, as this feature simply does not exist anymore...

If you want a readout of how much useful pressure you are getting then do as Captain says, and add a pressure sensor on the pipe where the steam comes out of the boiler.
