why does my engine randomly stop working?

so, say im sailing, and then all of a sudden my engine just stops. i have a custom fuel tank, and i also have a gas relief thing connected to the fuel line with a fluid port. and when it stops working, it still has ~~1900 units of diesel left. and yes, everything else works. it even runs for a good 5-10 minutes before stopping.

something i forgot to mention, the engine im using is a large engine.

maybe because you need to have air vent to your fuel tank
