Splitting one jet engine into two exhausts vs. two engines
Why would anyone build a design with more than one jet engine?

I was playing with the jet engines and noticed that if one splits the exhaust pipe out of the turbine into multiple exhausts, one can get the same air pressure as before, but now in both exhaust ports.

That looked weird to me, so I built a contraption with one engine splitting into two ports pushing in one direction, and two engines each with one port pushing against it. It was pretty clear that the single engine can consistently generate just as much force as the double engines, while the combustion chamber maintained identical pressure and temperature; unsurprisingly, the single engine also consumed half the fuel.

Maybe I need to redo my physics lessons, but this sounds really counter-intuitive to me. It also means there is no incentive to build a design with multiple jets for propulsion. What am I missing here?
