Hydraulics and Pneumatics
I think another great update would be hydraulics and pneumatics. I think it would go great with the compressible gasses update. That way we would be able to have things like air brakes. It would make trains far more realistic. Plus it would be nice to have more types of pumps, like air compressors.

Hydraulic piston exists, also for air brakes use the variable brake and name it “air brakes”

*i meant pneumatic piston

I agree hydraulics and pneumatic would make a great update

1: no they don't.

2: how is this helpful
Thank you!

I wouldn't want to just fake it I would want the real thing so I can have realistic air brakes, and yeh, there is no hydralic piston right now.

No they are not although they are named pneumatic pistons there's absolutely nothing pneumatic about them they are electric.

Hydraulics functions with liquid being pushed in and out.

Pneumatic functions with air being pushed in and out.

So you mean that it makes the hissing sound when used

it's called that, sure, but it's just a stupid linear track with delusions of grandeur.
one throttle input, one electricity input, and one number output.
definitely not what we have in mind.
what we're imagining is a full on modular pneumatic/hydraulic system, with compressors, check valves, reservoirs, and stuff like that.
Exactly. Well said.

Not completely. Sure that would be cool but the cool part is to be able to have the mechanics of it. Basically I would want to be able to have systems with compressed air/fluid that can drive certain things, like pneumatic or hydraulic pistons. Its not just how it looks or sounds, but getting to be creative with it and being able to make things that are realistic, and not just by how it looks or sounds, but by how it works inside.

I personally would like the sound and compressible gas and fluids

I wish, but you could use liquid as a method of controlling (reading the amount you have in one area vs another or something, and if it's enough, you can move this thing)

again, it's not the same.

Thanks for clarifying something that I already know, it was simply a suggestion to an alternative until those get added

I believe the reason SW calls them "pneumatic" is because you can pass air and/or fluid through them, like you can with robotic pivots. Obviously not at all what people want when they say pneumatic or hydraulic systems tho

I've heard that when they first implemented impeller pumps they would generate RPS if fluid was pushed through them, however this was quickly removed as it made perpetual motion machines very easy to create
