Good Gearbox Ratios
So I have been playing Stormworks for, I would say, a long time now. But honestly, I just figured out that im probably the worst with doing gearbox stuff. I know how to do speed (power) ratios and torque ratios, but what are some good gear ratios and how many gearboxes are recommended for different weights? Thanks.

There is no default good gear ratio which works for each and every creation. As far as my experience goes I have to adjust and test the ratios in every creation new.

Yes, I simply want to know different opinions on the best gear ratios and gearboxes recommended for different weights (including boat props, water jets, turboprops, regular plane props, jet powered-track propelled vehicles, jet powered-wheel propelled vehicles, diesel powered-track propelled vehicles, diesel powered-wheel propelled vehicles, steam powered boats (nuclear and coal,) and you know the rest.

This question is a good bit too open ended.
There's no simple answer, as already stated by NiceGuy.

The ratio you need is completely dependent upon the application.

The best way is to look at real life applications. I just released 2 chassis. A car and a truck. Both use real ratios from IRL vehicles

Gearing is completely dependent upon the job that you are trying to do.

The Car's Ratios:

1st 3:1
2nd 2:1
3rd 1.33:1
4th 1:1
5th .66:1

The Truck's Ratios:

1st 5:1
2nd 3.33:1
3rd 2.22:1
4th 1.66:1
5th 1.11:1

Transmission Tractor:

1st 15:1
2nd 12:1
3rd 10:1
4th 8.33:1
5th 6:1
6th 5:1
7th 3.24:1
8th 3:1
9th 2.4:1
10th 2:1
11th 1.66:1
12th 1.33:1
13th 1.2:1
14th 1:1
15th .83:1
16th .66:1

Airplanes generally try to run a 1:9 ratio

Proper gearing cannot be given a rote number. You are either trading torque (power) for RPS (speed) or the reverse. You do not get anything for free.
