Physics changed mid-build?.... now my landing gear is breaking
Hello community.

Currently I am developing an aircraft (HFC-ish) and am trying to get the landing gear to work.

For some reason between testing, taking it back to the workbench, and respawning the aircraft the rear landing gear 'broke' with it now collapsing at any level of weight. I can't afford to beef up the suspension atm.

Would anyone have insight into what might cause such collapse to occur?

Gear lever is found in the cockpit and marked, vehicle requires Infinite Power atm.
Physics detail - Constantly/locked to "high"
While I have read that gearing higher (1:1 --> 1:4) makes it resistant. I found the opposite

they said use infinite

then single piston suspension isnt enough to hold it, try double connected to robotic hinge instead to pivots, besides this plane is flying lag, uses too much pivots everywhere causing serious slowdowns due to heavy physics load, this game is not able to run complicated builds like this one without issues ...

I've experienced this even if your using infinite electricity most things still need to be connected to a battery to work properly.

You just won't run out of power with infinite on.

Interesting. Thank you very much for the insight.

In reply, the vehicle isn't laggy for me. Maybe its because I am used to it? Either way, once the build is done ill *try* to reduce some of the lag. The plane however is still very much an 'internal use only' kinda project. I don't really intent to have everyone pick it up freely. The goal is just to do something till my life gets busy again

Well game tells me that on spawn, testing it i've confirmed your issues with this plane with replicaded conditions, tried it few times with different results, sometimes it stays there on own wheels, sometimes all joints lost strenght and plane start dancing, but anyway i don't really wanted to point faults in build itself, just use it to undeline game issues, i think game atm is broken... Thats why things like this happens even with unlimited electricity. I really can not imagine how someone would code pistons that way so they may actually bend in every direction...

They changed a lot of the physics in this last update and I don't know why. They already broke one of my planes and even my most solid vehicles behave a little differently now.

No, you dont need batteries

i still have one plane that seems to work fine, and i'm building without unlimited electricity, seriously i don't know maybe its the way of using some components, in stormworks no one can be sure whats going on.

In your games settings are you running with Automatic Physics? In that setting the physics model will automatically scale depending upon the load on your machine. I've found that in LOW physics articulated items will collapse more regularly and be less stable. If you set the physics to always HIGH it may be more stable.
