How do I increase build grid size?

Every build requires a bigger build grid size, but all tutorials to edit the size seem outdated and don't work, how do I increase the size?

A: "Every build?" A fraction of the builds use anything larger than the creative hangar.
B: Nothing has changed with xml editing islands at all, so you must be missing something. What tutorial are you using?

The tutorials say to find "edit_area", I find that, but then they say to find "edit_0" and I can't find it anywhere.

Just as a reminder, there is a reason the defs limited the built size. In most cases you won't have fun with this massive creations due to massive lag. And DON'T you ever even think about using such creations in multiplayer.

The thing is, these creations look like they should fit in the default building area judging by the pictures, but they don't.

Yes sometimes it's just because it's too high (ship masts) or to wide (wings).
Also really small vehicles can lag the game to dead by too much logic and laggy design.
